i’m doing a bit of spring cleaning with my blogs, because i get into patterns of making all these new blogs, thinking i can handle having them all, and then feeling bad when i’m not around to write with people who are probably super excited about writing with my particular muse.

it’s just hard, and it’s making roleplaying here on tumblr more stressful than it ever should be.  so this blog is going to be an archive because i have left it alone for so long, and trying to bring it back didn’t really have much success at all.  roleplaying is a hobby of mine, and it’s just becoming stressful for me, which makes me have to take a step back and figure my shit out.

so for right now, the only two blogs i’m gonna keep for now is my shepard blog and my inquis blog.  i have a third in the works, but i needed to clear out my current cache.  i’m probably gonna stick with those three for a good long while, since i know those two sure as hell aren’t going anywhere.

       However, he hesitates for just a moment, standing a decent distance away, so electric blue eyes still have a visual, but far enough away he stands out of the suspicious stranger’s line of sight.

       Curiosity mixed with some sort of leftover training had taloned feet approaching.  The scarred turian leans casually across from the stranger, arms clasping loosely in front of him.

i think turian biology is nearly identical to that of human biology, but since the turians are an avian species, their biology would likely be a hybrid of human and avian elements.  the sharp teeth seen in a turian’s mouth are likely for tearing, like some of the teeth in the human mouth.  here’s what the wiki says about turian biology:

Turians exhibit the characteristics of predators rather than those of prey species (compare to krogan biology). Their forward-facing alert eyes give the impression that they possess outstanding eyesight and their teeth and jaws mimic the structures possessed by apex predators such as crocodiles or ancient, carnivorous dinosaurs. Needless to say, their talons on both their feet and hands seem capable of ripping flesh. As such, their diet is primarily meat-based. Their slender bodies also seem to suggest that they are also capable of moving at high speeds.

Although life on Palaven is carbon-based and oxygen-breathing, it is built on dextro-amino acids. This places the turians in a distinct minority on the galactic stage; the quarians are the only other sapient dextro-protein race. The food of humans, asari, or salarians (who evolved in levo-amino acid-based biospheres), will at best pass through turian systems without providing any nutrition. At worst, it will trigger an allergic reaction that can be fatal if not immediately treated. The turian mechanic Lilihierax on Noveria uses the idiom, “if you can polish enough gizzard”. This suggests that the turians have a digestive system similar to birds and reptiles on Earth, some of whom swallow stones to help break down harder foods in the stomach.

so if we go by this, turian biology is likely more similar to avian biology than human biology.  obviously, we don’t know how birds react to alcohol, because there’s probably some ethical concerns about testing the effects of alcohol on birds.

i mean it makes sense.  we see Garrus (and Tali) getting drunk in the Citadel DLC, but it seems like all the booze hit Tali harder than Garrus.  this may be due to quarian biology and the fact they have terrible immune systems to the point where they rely on a suit to keep them isolated from even the air outside, but also Tali is much smaller than Garrus.  

realistically, turians are large aliens, second probably only to krogan (because i mean look at them, they’re hulking), so if the same biology applies, it probably requires a considerable amount of alcohol to even get drunk, regardless of tolerance.  female turians are, on the short side, six feet tall, which is a few inches taller than the average human woman and about the same size as a human man.  male turians, being even taller (topping out somewhere around seven feet or possibly even taller), would biologically require a considerable amount of alcohol to even get drunk.
