As much as he tried, Forth couldn’t hide the wincing from Beam. “Does your head still hurt?” He asked Forth. The Engineer attempted to ignore him by shovelling food into his mouth. The doctor-in-training asked him again, “Does your head still hurt?” 

“It’s your fault anyway,” Forth grumbled. “You had to get in the way. Engineers are stubborn and often pick fights, it’s nothing the Head Hazer couldn’t handle.” Forth knew that he was saying the wrong thing, because the Doctor went quiet. Beam averted his eyes and started to close in on himself. “Hey,” Forth gently kicked him. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” he grinned. “I’m fine. You patched me up and now you’re also feeding me. Clearly, someone cares.”

Hi, hello! I hope you won’t mind me answering this way because my response got a bit too long for a comment. 

So.

I’m basing my opinion on Beam on the drama only. I haven’t read the books and I prefer not to mix two mediums. They might tell the same story but it will never be the same story. Anyway.

I honestly don’t remember the drama ever mentioning that Beam was a playboy. It called a spade a spade with Ming and his 13 ex’s but I really can’t remember it having done the same with Beam. I know that they mentioned some girlfriend of his that we never actually saw but that was it? If I’m wrong I’ll stand corrected :)

But also, there were two things that convinced me that one night stands were not in his nature: 1) Phana’s shock when he heard that Beam and Forth had sex, if that was a common occurrence, Beam just sleeping with someone on a whim, Phana would not be as shocked; and 2) the two times we saw Beam headed off with someone - Forth and the girl in the bar - liquid courage was required, both times he was drunk out of his mind, and even drunk he seemed almost hesitant when he asked Forth to “do it” with him, that’s not the behavior of someone for whom this is a normal behavior.

I think that this - him drinking so heavily and attempting to sleep around - it all boils down to his depression. The way the drama pointed it out, that Beam was suffering from depression, it was rather on the nose - him sitting in the class where they learned about the symptoms of depression, those that he himself had - but I guess they needed to really hammer that point home. 

IMO, him sleeping with Forth was his first one night stand. It was in the way he asked Forth the next day, “It was a whim, right?” Like he wanted to hear Forth say that no, it wasn’t. And I think he was very, very but very lucky that the first person that he did this with was Forth, an upstanding, honest guy. Because it could’ve backfired on him like whoa.

I love Beam and he has a fewest scenes among the other moons. That why I watch 2moons2 special episodes Before the moons rises that introduces the characters in film to know more about Beam. Dome (cast Beam) says Beam is a play boy.

Beam maybe doesn’t have the girlfriends as much as Ming. But he sleeps with alots girls even not dating them. Examples he asks the girls in bar for taking him home (of course to ‘do it’). The girl is not his girlfriend, because if she is, she must tell Forth know and react upon when Forth says “Beam is mine” “Beam is my wifey”, and let Forth brings Beam powerlessly.

Beam knows how to reponse who flirts him with enough caring to let them always love him. Examples he asks Laem where Forth is but not ask directly Forth.

Phana hears the reason is “Forth and Beam were drunk and on mood to do it” then he concludes it is one night stand, becase he knows Beam is a playboy and has many one night stand.

Phana is shock because 1-Forth and Beam are friend about one year before this thing happens; 2-Forth and Beam do it after the conversation among Phana, Ming, Kit and Beam. Phana thinks Beam has a feeling with Kit.

Unlike you, I think Beam asks “It was a whim, right?” to want Forth agree with him to close all his feelings and thinking now. He doesn’t arrange and prepare an answer after asking Forth to do him.
