kirby was looking for a last minute outfit for a date they were going on, and last minute shopping was always stressful. first impressions meant everything and their brain was just scattered. they just flipped through everything not liking anything. a loud sigh escaped their lips. when they heard scartlett speak they didn’t think they were being spoken to until, they realized they were the only person around. “you think?” kirby looked at the garment questionably. they weren’t sure they could just pull it off. “so, i should go try it on?” price wasn’t really a problem shopping for first date clothes, although discounts did make everything better.

“sweetie, i’d be so insulted if you didn’t try it on--it’s like you didn’t regard my advice or anything.” she pushed the dress toward them.  “who’s the lucky person and do i need to start planning the wedding?”

‘Honey’ the word made Tariq’s eye twitch with complete discomfort, he’d never been good with terms of endearment in any context and in this case it was no different, but he kept his mouth shut. She was being nice. He hadn’t asked for help nor wanted it, but she was being nice and that deserved some civility in return. “This would look dope on me, cause most things do, and I am going to buy it, cause why not, but I actually didn’t come in here for me.” He explained as he took the shirt from her. 

Scarlett smirked at the man’s self-confidence as it was a response that she would have delivered herself. She eyed him from head to toe, almost wishing he’d have agreed to try it on for her but his next statement intrigued her more than his physique. “Oh? Well, who did you come in here for? And what is the special occasion?”

Ellie let out a small laugh at the compliment on her skills. She always loved hearing that people loved the coffee she made. “Well, I’m glad I can be of assistance. People like you are why the job is so fun. I love coffee and making it for people who share the same love for it is the best.”

“Maybe next time you can add a little something special for me,” Scarlett grinned. “Something to make the day go by a little faster.”

brows can’t help but knit into a furrow, arms crossed over her chest as she felt (and looked like a fish out of water.) rose excelled in a lot of things but having a good sense of fashion was never ONE of them, always going for sundresses and converse. she chewed upon her freckled bottom lip as she eyed it suspiciously, “i don’t know…” swallowing thickly before flickering her gaze back up toward scarlett, “you don’t think it’d be like…too revealing?” 

scarlett examined the redhead up and down before landing on her chest. “no offense, sweetie, but nothing you put on would be too revealing. and i mean that with love because i’m the president of the itty bitty titty committee myself, but that just means we gotta flaunt what we got.” scarlett pulled on the younger girl’s hand toward the fitting room. “just try it on. i guarantee you’ll love it.” 

kirby: hey i have a great style. do you see what i wear. i am fashion, second to you. 

kirby: why not all of the camp?

kirby: alright, i’ll be over soon. should i do your makeup?

“ What did you think nature, bird watch meant? ” Eevee asked as she stared through the binoculars into the distance trying to spot whatever the guide was pointing out, honestly, she’d disassociated and stopped paying attention for a minute. “ You’d be having an easier time if you decided to wear close-toed shoes, and ya know… not stilettos. ”

“Closed toe shoes are for Autumn and Winter,” she muttered with a slight pout. “Honestly, I thought we’d be indoors watching birds fly around in like... glass cages or something. Like... the zoo.” Scarlett’s appearance to Portland’s Pride events were more formalities than anything--if she showed up then she could meet other potential clients as well as solidify some of the client relationships she had already built. She was bisexual, sure, and she wasn’t afraid to admit the fact--but was it anything that she needed to wave a flag about? “Why do you participate in these things anyway?”

Thomas shrugged, smirking, though he wouldn’t let Scarlett see it. Silently, he thought why are some women like this? You know, the type that gets invited a place and chooses heels as a first option. He wouldn’t say that out loud, though. He knew how she’d react.

“I didn’t know you had previous appointments!” he said, holding his hands up. “Relax, this won’t be long. We’re not going to bird-watch the entire time. Just an hour or so, and then we hit the rest of town, okay?” If you’re up for walking in those shoes.

“Well I didn’t want to be rude,” she retorted back, rolling her eyes--a gesture she found to be made often when around Thomas. “I’m a little nervous as to what you consider ‘hitting the town.’ We’re not going to a Wiggles concert are we?” She joked, referencing his age. “Do you even know what half of these birds are?”

“You couldn’t survive the Rivera pout,” Liv said mimicking it in front of the girl again. She wanted company for this event, there was no way she was gonna slink around a wildlife watching birds by herself. “I mean I did try to tell you we were going to a wildlife place- not my fault you chose those shoes, they are cute though. Good luck?”

“But I expected this wildlife place to have just a little bit on concrete. Like the zoo or some other fuckin’ animal place like that.” Scarlett glared at Liv through her sunglasses, not even regarding the compliment she tossed her way. “Isn’t this, like, animal cruelty or something like that?”

“Well, this is going to be my first time speed-dating,” Thomas admitted, thinking that perhaps he dressed up a little too much for the event. In his hand, he thumbed a purple button, which indicated that he was interested in dating and friendship. “Anyway, I’m Thomas. I like art. I’m here to speed-date. Here it goes!”

“Thomas,” she groaned, rolling her eyes. “I already know you.” Scarlett could not believe her luck to be paired with this young boy who already dragged her to birdwatching. She glanced down to the purple button she clipped to her clutch which was posted on the table in front of her. This was more of a networking event for her anyway--but if she had gone home with someone in the result of it then that wasn’t too shabby of a deal. “Speaking of art--when are you going to create me something that I can showcase in the living room of my house?”

“Heels should’ve never been an option in the first place.” Paloma shook her head at her friend, but couldn’t help to let out a small laugh in return to her complaints. “Because I promised you mimosas right after with a side of lots of food so who are you to pass out that opportunity?” She gently nudged her arm. “Besides, who often do you go bird watching? Probably never. I mean neither do I really so it seemed like a grand opportunity.”

“Well birds shit,” she spat, rolling her eyes behind her sunglasses. “They fly above you and target their ass and then they shit on your clothes and your face--which is a reasonable aspect to consider when thinking to go birdwatching.”  Scarlett lightly tapped her finger to her lips as she reconsidered the positive repercussions following this outing. “What kind of food are you promising, Loma? Because I don’t know if mimosas are enough.”
