For this video, we wanted to discuss the election- the students in the video are speaking about the results and how things could go down- and then the message/sentence is written on a leaf. Often many concerns and critiques will be brought up towards leadership and government, but especially in the times we are in, these concerns can go unnoticed, like a leaf in the wind. We wanted to shed light on this as well as focusing on the civilian response to all these big events happening, all the time.

For the final artifact, we wrote the original sentence on a new, bigger leaf instead of the original one used in our first video. This has taken on a new meaning- it's still on the leaf, but the leaf is ripped up and starting to decay. This symbolizes the way that it's unnecessary to have a negative outlook- just like how we changed our sentence, changing our view on things helps a lot and we should focus on how we should improve, not what we lack.

For our project, we covered a tree in ribbons and wrote the sentence on the front. It was challenging- we had to climb the tree and hang the ribbons, go out and buy the ribbons which was pricier than expected, and we also had to finish everything before sunset. We managed to complete it though, and working on it was a lot of fun. We wanted to spread the message but also to avoid making it too dark or apocalyptic- instead it's a message of uplifting each other and working together in every situation.

For this final proposal, we decided to make it about our ribbon idea and simplifying it- covering one tree instead of stretching out the ribbon everywhere, and writing the words on the ribbons. It'll be engaging as well, as we will be climbing the tree in order to hang it- prompting people to talk to us about the project. We also chose to make the ribbons red and blue as an homage to the U.S flag, although we didn't want to make it too obvious.

We were able to bring the tarp to class, and we decided to set it down on the entrance to the room filled with artifacts. As an 'unlikely path' in a literal sense, we decided to have it so that those walking into the room would have to step on the tarp in order to get past. In a way it could even be seen as trampling the piece, however it's important to not be afraid of walking on it and taking that new step in any situation.

For this piece, we brought a dirty, unused tarp- something that to most would have little to no value, and brought it to the school Adrian works at- these kids set handprints on the tarp with our paint, and it transformed a regular object into something filled with heart and potential. We wanted to show that anything is possible, especially with children that society is eager to cast aside- those with issues socially interacting and fitting in to the norm. However, when working on this tarp, everyone made their own impact and left a mark in their own way.
