Hijikata’s doggedness to get the Yorozuya back together is so fucking great! THANK YOU SORACHI! Jesus christ he wants to go off and look for Gintoki and he does everything he can to reunite him with his kids because he wants the Yorozuya ((Gintoki)) back so much AHHHHHHH I AM SO EXCITED! Sorachi tied this together so nicely by doing a parallel to this scene:

Right away Gintoki corrects Hijikata and told him that they both got something from each other. He tells Hijikata what he, Gintoki, wants and that’s to just have drinks and be together:

Hijikata doesn’t want to look for Gintoki and reunite the Yorozuya because he feels he owes Gintoki something. He’s doing it because he legitimately just wants the Yorozuya ((Gintoki)) back home again so that he and Gintoki can have what they talked about:

So Hijikata has been thinking about Gintoki. Not really a surprise. I just find this panel funny because: “Turns out you’ve got the same stupid look on your face I’ve gotten so tired of looking at.”

Look at him.

Gintoki: “Then why are you out here in the boonies?” Hijikata: Says nothing while remembering exactly why he’s there –

Hijikata: Yorozuya, go home, you’re drunk.

Gintoki: I am not fucking drunk.

Hijikata: Then go on and tell the time.
