Ofc I would come to love Theon Greyjoy, the no.1 boyfailure, the emotionally unstable and yet well dressed twink (second only to Renly himself) that he is. Considering who he is made up of. Weird phrasing ik but it makes sense! George decided to blend zuko from atla, with his daddy and sister and identity issues (like the whole ozai-azula-zuko dynamic is eerily similar to that of balon-Asha-Theon . Itâs crazy.) the prince who spent some time away from his hostile homeland and all his antagonistic qualities and path to redemption, with Jesse Pinkman from breaking bad, another boyfailure with his estranged family, self destructive patterns, his utter misery, dead gf who is coincidentally called Jane (cough cough or Jeyne ig), manipulation and betrayal by another man who quite literally destroys his whole life and his subsequent reekification. Mandem was legit chained and locked up like a slave!! Did I mention he constantly gets beat up by like. Everyone. Good guys and bad guys. So yeah, point is Jesse Pinkman+Zuko=Theon Greyjoy. And this is how one of the greatest character in the history of fiction was born, from the unification of two also very very good characters from other shows which, funny enough, didnât even exist when the agot started. Wild.

NEW FIC: To Start a Family (Theyne)
Title: To Start a Family Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire Characters/Pairings: Theon/Jeyne Rating: R / Mature Warnings: Mentions of past canonical torture, some vague discussion of genital mutilation Word Count: 2,830 Summary: Three times Theon and Jeyne dreamed about having a child, and one time they held him in their arms.
Read on AO3
Just saw a post where someone said that Elia and Lyanna wouldâve been friends in canon if they had both survived. That they would be a big family where Rhaegar would be taking care of both of them and their children.
My mind is blown. What. How does one come to such an INSANE theory.
Elia loved Rhaegar and wouldnât be happy sharing her lawful husband with a teenager he essentially knocked up. And letâs face it Lyanna was his paramour, The other woman, and her presence at court alone wouldâve been dishonorable towards Elia nevermind Jonâs existence. Just because she was gentle and kind doesnât mean she would be so acceptable of her husbands cheating. Yes. Cheating. Idc if he was in love or not, that doesnât matter because at the end of the day he is an adulterer and a pedophile.
And not much is known about Lyanna, whether she regretted running away and getting with Rhaegar or her whole thought process and how she came to the conclusion that â Robertâs a cheater, but somehow Rhaegar is better bc he is cheating on his wife with me so itâs different so i should go w himâ. I will not disagree on the fact that she was most probably groomed and manipulated when she was in such a vulnerable state (betrothed to a man she didnât want and nobody was willing to listen or help her save for this super handsome dragon prince) but letâs assume she did fall in love. I think she would try to block out the thought of him being married with kids. Because not only would that put her in an uncomfortable position where she realizes that she is the third person in their marriage (making it a bit crowded thank u for the quote princess Di) but also that he isnât 100% committed to her. He will still belong to Elia in some way, and that would probably upset Lyanna or outright make her jealous. Or both. Who knows.
So no, they would definitely not be friends had they both survived. It would be SUCH a mess if they had. And neither the North nor Dorne would be happy with the outcome. So much for being a better King, Rhaegar đđđ. Idk this love triangle pisses me off and Iâm unable to fully hate these characters (im not talking abt Elia here) because to some extent they were all victims of the system (some more than others but still)

Grrm a coward for not giving us happy trail Brienne during the bath scene in Harrenhal. Like Wdym she was âhairierâ than Cersei, Jamie??? Be more specific plsđ
So much shit couldâve been avoided if Robert and Ned just found the time to explore each otherâs bodies back in the Vale. No rebellion, no war of the five kings and so on and on if just two dudes in a homoerotic relationship banged it out.
These fuckass asoiaf adaptations piss me off sm.
GoT was pure Stark family propaganda. They were the family that never hurt anyone and were absolute saints and if anyone was against them or caused them harm they had to be obliterated. In the show the Starks could never do any wrong and were above other houses because they had âhonorâ.They had the god given right to seek revenge and murder anyone in their way but if anyone else does it (like Dany or Jamie) ohhh no theyâre vile and absolute villains.
Same goes for Hotd.rhaenyra is a kind woman who wouldnât hurt a soul. In general team black is the innocent one and even Daemon is just a confused little boy, who apparently is harmless? But the greens?? Absolute villains, oh and theyâre super dumb and embarrassing. They so desperately want to dictate to the audience who to root for and itâs annoying.
Like do showrunners understand that asoiaf has no good guys? Everyone is a shade of grey, everyone is doing pretty unethical shit but that is the point. The starks and team black can still be the protagonists who you can root for in spite of their questionable decisions. They arenât meant to be perfect and the character who have a vendetta against them arenât always wrong and might actually have a point in their resentment. *cough* like Theon *cough*
Atp the only thing I ask of GRRM is to give us ONE POV chapter, just One of Theon Greyjoy not being a massive boyloser.
Like omg this man has been catching strays from the very beginning in GoT with Bran and Cat and Jon just straight up shittalking him in their heads. Then in acok he is humiliated by his own sister and mocked by his family. Then ADWD???
Like pls pls just one incident where Theon has some dignity and isnât atrociously embarrassing himself. This guy canât catch a break for a single second. And he sorely needs oneâŠ
Jon Snow has been dead for 13 years now and I am so ready for him to come back to life already. He better be having the biggest crash out of the century since Cersei realizing her brotherlover is no longer into her and into some giant lady knight instead. His brothers murdered him and the little girl he risked everything for isnât even his sister, just a stewards daughter who is clinging to his childhood nemesis who also looks like shit from all the torture (but Jon prolly will think he deserved it anyway) no human being would be acting normal after all this. And especially not spiteful and borderline cruel Jon (and he was like that before the betrayalâŠ)
JON SNOW POST RESURRECTION CRASH OUT WHEN???
What will he do to jeyne? To the nights watch, to Melisandre!!

May we all dodge bullets like Anguy did here.
Is this the butterfly effect everyone is talking about? If bro wasnât drunk he wouldâve agreed to join Nedâs service and and in like a couple of months would lose his head for it⊠I wonder if this haunts himâŠ
Mya Stone when she gets asked abt her parents.
Lmao I just realized this can also apply to the strong bastards đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Mya Stone when she gets asked abt her parents.
Itâs kind of hilarious that Gendry hates Edric Dayne and is jealous of him when he himself is distantly related to the Daynes đđđ
Fun fact, his grandfather Steffon Baratheonâs maternal great grandmother was Dyanna Dayne soooâŠ
Stumbled upon a short video from GoT pre red wedding and Oh My God. Why did they make Edmure the butt of every joke. The Blackfish is a dick to him and so is Robb and edmure is such a LOSER.
He isnât even that bad in the books. Bro is a caring guy and even Cat says he is a very kind lord to let his people stay at Riverrun. He has his silly moments but thatâs like what? A 24 year old? He deserves to be at the club not having his family brutally murdered on his wedding night. Imagine the trauma?
they did the guy so dirty omd

The way D&D wrapped up Aryas story in season 8 of Game of Thrones was nothing short of criminal. She was just a trope to them. The ânot like other girlsâ badass assassin who killed men and baked them into pies to serve their father or whatever that was. The one who wields weapons like a pro and is so skilled that she can get away with killing the big bad, the woman who despises anything feminine and rejects her position as a âladyâ, and after YEARS of desperately trying to reunite with her siblings, the last living members of her beloved family btw, in her childhood home. She just. Leaves them all behind?? To sail WEST like itâs smth she always wanted to do?
And the worst thing is some people in the fandom BUY that shit⊠going as far as to claiming itâs evident in the books that she will leave her family behind because she âhates being a lady and wants to be freeâ.
But the thing is, beyond Arya getting back to her family in Winterfell, not much is known. She is like 9-12 years of age in the books, and is dealing with tremendous trauma facing danger in every aspect of her life. What she wants is her family, somewhere to belong and finally to feel safe. And my girl sure as hell as deserves those things. So, the mere thought of her leaving all that she fought for in the end is so dumb.
How some people miss that she is just a little girl who is a tomboy and constantly compared to her sister who is the epitome of what a lady should be in a patriarchal society, reflects how they misunderstand women and refuse to let them be human. Yes she feels out of place with other highborn ladies, and explicitly mentions in the books how she isnât a lady like her mother and sister. But that rejection doesnât stem from internal misogyny (like in the show where they in fact rewarded her for that by making her âsuper coolâ) in fact she WANTS to be better, but because she is a little girl she feels like itâs out of her reach. Arya wants to fit in and be like other ladies, she wants to make her mother proud of her, her sister love her and treat her like an equal. And it makes me mad how the show made it seem like she completely hates womanhood and the fandom just having to accept that.
There is some truth to Arya being a free spirit and possessing some of that âwolf bloodâ, like Lyanna, but that does not mean she would just abandon her family in the end when her whole journey (and the rest of her siblings) is reclaiming her identity and making it back to the people she loves. The only reason she went to Braavos was because she thought everyone was either dead or lost to her, so she might as well go somewhere where she CAN. Her last option to stay alive.
In the books we donât know what Arya would want for herself in the end outside of the basic necessities. My girl wishes for a lot of things like death and revenge but who wouldnât in her predicament? Her daily life has abruptly turned into a kill or be killed situation. But the showrunners completely overlooked the nuances and thought this meant she is going to be a killer forever, who hates women too. And sails west and abandons her duty to the North as a member of house Stark (which is insane for her character btw even in the books). Her endgame being based SOLELY on her lowest moments in the books where she had to take a turn for the worst to survive, is damaging to her character who at its core is sweet and caring and willing to take risks to save other peopleâs lives, even the ones she doesnât really know. Like her whole existence became her desire for vengeance when in the books that storyline was given to lady stoneheart, and Iâm pretty sure itâs set up that thatâs smth Arya will later be appalled by. And when book!Arya prayed that someone kills Joffrey (or that she does) when it actually happens she doesnât even care. Because her brother and mother are dead too and it wonât bring either back. Like how did the showrunners miss that??? Itâs like right on the page??
Arya is a stark and like her father she wonât be obsessed with revenge, but Justice instead. So D&D rlly didnât know what they were doing there.
The lack of understanding and care for the nuances killed an amazing character who is so human, and I will never forgive them for that.
How come Arya, Bran and Rickon became royalty (princess and princes) when Robb was crowned but Renly and Stannis remained lords despite Robert being crowned King of the Seven Kingdoms?
