papyrus has resets

If you are in the papyrus community you know references and hints of papyrus are scattered everywhere! He constantly haunts the narrative and its weird!!

So to save you the trouble I have graciously created this post to compile all of the papyrus references (that I know of)

This list won't be going into: Character parallels, eggs, sans and gaster references, anything related to Ice E because it is VERY complicated

I have created the skeleton! It is now up to the rest of the community to find more allusions and add on to this post in their own way.

(Some will be explained if they're niche but most won't)

You know how in undertale papyrus doesn't recognize the sun and thats like major evidence hes not from deltarune like sans.

Most people when talking about this just kinda shrug it off as him lying but I have a better take.

It's because he hasn't!

I know it sounds crazy he lives on the surface how could he not have seen the sun before?

I've already explained in another theory i made on how papyrus sees in third person, it's a weird quirk he has compared to other monsters.

Ok now think back to Deltarune and the perspective kris has in the light world. From our angle we NEVER get to see the sun, we know it's there but it's always out of view even during the sunset.

Not exactly a concrete theory its mostly just a fun hypothetical to spark discussion.

A bit of evidence ive found could possibly hint to this:

When you call him in the wishing room with undyne he wishes for 8 legs, friend looks like Endogeny and has multiple legs.

During the papyrus qna he recommends to name the askers cat "papyrus" after him. Could just be a gag but it could also reference freind pretending to be papyrus

Theirs also the weird cage 17 thing he has going on as well as the fact that he apparently sees in a third person perspective like a player would.

Personally I like the concept of it and do think it has a chance to be interesting but most of the evidence are based off of jokes and the only real evidence that could mean anything i kinda skipped over because its extremely complicated.

No im not kidding, papyrus loves MAKING puzzles yes but he HATES solving them.

In the game papyrus activity avoids doing puzzles, in Snowdin he alters one of his puzzles but when he ends up changing the solution, he says

Implying that when whenever he messes up one of his puzzles he makes sans solve it for him.

when you call him in hotland he gives an excuse to why he can't help with it.

YOU CAN LITERALLY SEE THROUGH THE PHONE STOP LYING!!

The way its set up at the first glance you would assume the the narrative is trying to make the point "papyrus is dumb" but I dont believe that's what it's doing, papyrus is VERY complex character, he completely subverts expectations of who you think he is and i believe this is one of those times.

I have no doubt in my mind that papyrus is actually really smart, keep in mind that his puzzles are made specifically by him, meaning he created the design, programmed the software and made the hardware itself with scrap parts he most likely found at the dump, while also making sure his puzzles are still able to function in the harsh climate he lives in.

So why is he incapable of doing puzzles?

Well personally my head canon is that he has adhd and has difficulty focusing on thinks hes not very interested in.

Gaster has a big cat who is the devil and papyrus has a small dog who is god

Im going to go insane what does this mean??

Its simultaneously a similarity and a contrast, and it makes me wonder how connected the 2 actually are when it comes to the religious symbolism in Deltarune.

In Undertale papyrus has friends and goals, and has made his mark in the underground as being a leader and role model (even if he doesn't realize it).

Sans has nothing, hes made friends with a few copies of his old friends but they could never replace what he had.

Deltarune is sanses heaven and papyrus's hell

In Deltarune sans has everything, friends, a good paying job, and a community he feels apart of.

In Deltarune Papyrus has nothing, no friends, no job, no goals, he doesn't even bother trying.

Papyrus is kinda weird already so even if he did I don’t think Flowey would think anything of it.

As for how Flowey would react if he found out I imagine it would confuse and probably scare him a bit.

Can't say for sure theirs no proof of either being the case.

I do imagine most of his deaths would be from her considering her and Asgore are the only characters I can see being an actual threat to him. (There's his brother too but I've already talked about this)

The Deltarune save is… weird, in undertale you only get 1 save but we see in photoshop Floweys fight he actually gained the save files from the human souls he absorbed.

So it would make sense for us to have 2 saves, we absorbed Kris’ save file… but there’s 3 saves… so who’s save is the 3rd one???

Are there actually 3 people in Kris? Did Gaster just make a 3rd one for some reason?

Theirs also the drawer dialogue like you mentioned, so do all of them actually belong to Kris?

True, maybe he did it in one of his endings. Papyrus did call Asgore a pushover when you spare him so it’s not too big a stretch.
