listen to me, this is so so important: you've gotta get used to really giving it your 60% as a default. like don't half-ass it necessarily but try not to go over 70% or so of an ass. you'll feel better and live a happier more fulfilled life, and on the rare occasions where you do need to lock the fuck in you'll be able to pull off bullshit that the sad miserable wretches giving it their 100% can never dream off, because they're busy draining themselves dry and you have energy reserves to spare.

One of the most important lessons I learned during my working-adult life was to be intentional about how I spend my time/energy. Maybe a survival skill left over from my poor days. In any case, half-assing or outright ignoring certain things turned out to be more effective than I ever could have expected.

My 22yo is going through this now, as are many of my friends' kids. I went through some hard times myself at that age, but I don't remember things looking so bleak. Even in a generally bad economy, there were pockets of opportunity and a hope for better next year. With oligarchs and private equity owning almost everything, plus laws and courts bent to protect them from any accountability no matter how destructively they behave, that doesn't seem like the case any more. I'm sorry.

I know this is due to my particular constellation of interests, but for me the funniest thing about the "everything in a given century happened simultaneously" view of history being applied to the 1900s is bumping into increasing numbers of people who are genuinely unclear on whether Dungeons & Dragons pre-dates or post-dates The Lord of the Rings.

If I deliberately reversed the order of the Beatles and the IBM PC, I'm sure some of the people reading this wouldn't even question it and others would have to go look it up before correcting me.

the ad copy says it can be used on camels. imagine someone with a camel who is struggling with camel behavior problems seeing this and thinking "hot damn, the solution to my camel misbehavior problems is CERTAINLY this dog exorcism potion"

I'd like to see someone try to administer this to a camel with behavioral problems.
