Amaterasu [天照], Amaterasu-ōmikami or Ōhirume-no-muchi-no-kami is a part of the Japanese myth cycle and also a major deity of the Shinto religion. She is the goddess of the sun, but also of the universe.
In Japanese mythology, Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, is the sister of Susanoo, the god of storms and the sea, and of Tsukuyomi, the god of the moon. It was written that Amaterasu had painted the landscape with her siblings to create ancient Japan. She became the ruler of the sun and the heavens along with her brother, Tsukuyomi, the god of the moon and ruler of the night. Originally, Amaterasu shared the sky with Tsukuyomi, her husband and brother until, out of disgust, he killed the goddess of food, Uke Mochi. This killing upset Amaterasu, causing her to label Tsukuyomi an evil god and to split away from him; separating night from day.
There is also a long-standing rivalry between Amaterasu and her other brother, Susanoo. When he was to leave Heaven by orders of Izanagi, he went to bid his sister goodbye. Amaterasu was suspicious, but when Susanoo proposed a challenge to prove his sincerity, she accepted. Each of them took an object of the other’s and from it birthed gods and goddesses. Amaterasu birthed three women from Susanoo’s sword while he birthed five men from her necklace. Claiming the gods were hers because they were born of her necklace, she decided that she had won the challenge. The two were content for a time, but her brother became restless and went on a rampage, destroying Amaterasu’s rice fields, hurling a flayed pony at her loom, and killing one of her attendants in a fit of rage. Amaterasu, who was in fury and grief, hid inside the Ama-no-Iwato (“heavenly rock cave”), thus effectively hiding the sun for a long period of time. The world, without the illumination of the sun, became dark. The gods could not lure Amaterasu out of her hiding place until the goddess of dawn, Ame-no-Uzume, was able to trick her into reappearance.

Summary: After you go on the mission to retrieve the collector on Tau Ceti, Ryland realizes that he cannot keep the feelings towards you to himself anymore.
Warnings: MILD SPOILERS FOR PHM! Angst, brief mention of blood and injury.
Word count: 3k
A/n: it's a long time since i do not post my writing, but here is it! I hope you like it!
“It’s too dangerous”
Ryland was not fond of the idea of letting you outside of the Hail Mary, not because he doubted your skills, god you were even better than him in many things, but for the uncertainty of this particular mission. You were about to go outside, retrieve as many samples as you could from Tau Ceti's atmosphere, take those samples come back safe and sound, all this while the spaceship gets closer and closer to the star, while managing to not get stuck outside or fall in outer space. Even thinking about all this situation made Ryland's head spin, but you? Outside? That could not happen. Not this time.
"I think it's better if you stay inside with Rocky and check the situation from here" he stated with a half smile, his glasses hanging by his face and mid ear as usual.
You turned around and looked at him with a questionary look on your face. His eyes flashed with something different: his eyebrows arched in what seemed... nervousness? Concern? The thought passed through your mind and as quick as he got by, it flew out. How could he be concerned after all the things you both went through on that ship?
You blinked twice and set down the instruments you were holding to look at him fully. You thought about the night before, when you all talked about the details of the mission, together with Rocky of course, who finished your discourse with a series of enthusiastic alien sounds and a burble of "amaze, amaze, amaze! y/n, Ryland, Rocky efficient team."
"But we decided it was my turn this time, I mean it’s not my first trip outside” - you smiled - “aaaand I think I might actually quite enjoy it now… sometimes" you said playfully.
Grace let out a quick and nervous laugh.
"I-, well yes i know but I already went out many times, I can do it again without hesitation, or maybe yes with a little bit of hesitation but-"
"Grace" you put your free hand on your hips, the other laid on the desk "are you doubting my skills?" you questioned with a smirk on your face, knowing pretty well that this thought never went through his mind, not even once.
His eyes got wide open as he promptly put his hands in front of him, shaking them vigorously "Absolutely no, that's not what I meant, you're even better than me"
His panicked reaction made you laugh "you can bet on it" you continued smirking, earning a scoff from your companion. Meanwhile, Rocky entered the room, studying the two of you.
“Y/n better scientist” Rocky stated as you laughed.
“Rocky we already talked about personal space, right?” the alien made happy little sounds that only made you laugh more.
“But that’s true... you are remarkable" Ryland turned back to you and his face resumed to that concerned looked he had at the beginning of your conversation. Your smirk faded and your hand slowly fell from your hip. The compliment made butterflies appear in your stomach.
"Then, what is it?" you asked with a quite voice. Sensing he wanted to tell you something, your eyebrows knitted with hesitation.
Ryland's hand went to nervously scratch the back of his head, his gaze fell to his feet, then to his right and then up to the ceiling. He sighed. There were so many things he would’ve wanted to tell you in the past few months… but he always sensed it would be best to keep those emotions to himself. You were on a mission, a suicide mission actually. There was no space for these things… or at least that's what he thought at the beginning. The truth is Grace got fond of you as time went by.
The first time he looked at you, you were lying on the spaceship stretcher; your eyes slowly blinked open and he saw your face upside down, enough to make his heart skip a beat. He was not alone, you were not alone and you had each other. Your company was really the only reason he was able to made through all this mess. Waking up in space, not knowing who he was and what you were doing at first really got to him. He stared at the blank whiteboard hoping, trying, to get back at least a few memories, which as time went by he started remembering. And you were always there. You, with your black humour and quick mind, filling in the void in his heart and the blanks of his memory. You, who laughed at his dumb jokes like they were actually funny, who argued with him over calculations and then quietly double-checked them anyway. You, who made the vast, suffocating emptiness of space feel… survivable.
“Ryland?” you gently urged, your voice still quiet.
Ryland swallowed.
“Nothing,” he said finally, too quickly. “It’s nothing. Just… please be careful, okay?”
Your expression softened, just barely. You studied him for a second longer than necessary, like you were trying to read something he refused to say out loud. Then you nodded.
“Always am.”
Rocky let out a series of musical clicks from across the room. “Y/n go outside. Collect astrophage. Success likely. Ryland anxious, question?”
“I am not anxious,” Ryland’s head turned to Rocky immediately.
“You are making anxious face,” Rocky replied, utterly unbothered.

Rocky handmade collector was ready to be picked up. The Hail Mary got closer and closer to Tau Ceti as time went by, you had to move fast.
Ryland watched as you suited up, every movement deliberate, precise and quick. You double-checked the seals, your helmet and the tether. Everything was ready. For a brief second, you turned back and met Ryland’s eyes. You were able to mask your anxiety skilfully, or at least you thought so, but you could hear your heart racing in your chest.
“Here comes the fun part” His throat went dry.
“Just—” he started, then stopped “Just get back in one piece.”
________________________________________________
The moment the outer hatch opened, the universe swallowed you whole. You anchored yourself carefully, boots locking against the hull, tether secured. Your breath echoed inside your helmet, steady but heightened.
“Y/n status?” Ryland’s voice crackled through your comm.
“Alive and thriving,” you replied lightly “How much is it supposed to take for the collector to be-”
The tool clanked on the side of the Hail Mary before you could finish the sentence.
“Samples secured,” you reported wrapping your arms securely around the collector. Ryland let out a breath he didn’t know was holding.
“Amaze, amaze!” you heard Rocky from Grace’s comm.
Everything was going smoothly. Too smoothly.
You pushed off gently, gliding along the hull toward the hatch when you felt the ship rattle and shake. On the monitors appeared the warning “Low Altitude”.
“Y/n you need to get back inside asap”.
“I thought I could stay over sunbathing a little”
“Not safe outside!” stated Rocky
“It’s a joke”
“Oh humour, confusing!”
You were about to answer when you felt a sharp jolt and your body snapped sideways. The tether went taut with a violent yank that stole the air from your lungs.
“Y/n?” Ryland’s voice sharpened instantly. “What was that?”
“I—” you gasped, trying to reorient yourself. “Tether snagged on something, I think—hold on—”
Another jerk, harder this time. Pain shot through your side as your suit slammed against the hull.
“Why Y/n, not moving, question?”
“Y/n?”
“I’m fine,” you said automatically, even as your heart began to race. “Just give me a second—”
You twisted, trying to see it.
The tether wasn’t just snagged, it was completely tangled on a piece of loose metal from the side of the ship. You had to get back to the hatch immediately before the weight of the metal could take you away from the hull.
“No,” you whispered.
“What?” Ryland demanded “What is it?”
“Y/n good, question?”
“It’s—” your voice hitched. “It’s damaged. I think the edge of one of the panel seams— the tether got stuck”
“Y/n, don’t move,” Ryland said immediately, voice tight with panic. “I’ll— I’ll think of something, just stay still—”
“No, I have to get back, I’m going to the hatch right now”
The altitude was too low and the temperature outside was raising, he had to shift the Hail Mary trajectory away but that would make it impossible for you to get back to the hatch with the tether in that condition. It was the ship and the entire mission or you. And he had no doubt about that.
He instantly got up from the pilot seat and sprinted towards the hatch.
“C’mon, c’mon, c’mon” you breathed, you could see the entrance. Fingers clenched around the tool as you stretched your arm to grab the handle. Ryland was already behind the airlock ready to open up and take you inside, you could see him from the small opening.
In that moment, the seal that got stuck to the tether broke away and darted towards Tau Ceti, makings your body hit the side of the Hail Mary hard.
“Y/n!”
The hatch opened and Ryland grabbed your arm, pulling you inside. You tumbled across the floor of the Hail Mary as Ryland’s arms encircled you. The hatch slammed shut behind him, sealing out the vacuum and the chaos outside. Your body was trembling, and your head was spinning but you had not time to stop, you had to save the ship.
“Are you okay?!”
“We have” you exhaled, adrenaline pumping through you “We have no time, we have to get away from here.” Ryland watched as you got out from your suit. You were right, you had to go.
Managing to not smash into the walls of the ship, you run to the cockpit followed by Grace. Your head was hurting and spinning but the adrenaline kept you up to focus on the last moments of the mission.
With both of you in the pilot seats you managed to drift away successfully. You sighed and relaxed in your seat letting out a small laugh and looked at the little alien to your right.
“Amaze, amaze! Y/n, Ryland, Rocky great team. We study samples now, we save stars, yes?”
“Yes we do, we made it!”
Ryland, on your left, exhaled sharply too to steady his racing heartbeat. It was done, they made it and, most importantly, you were safe.
“Everything is fine” you whispered.
“Fine?” he scoffed, though the tension in his tone was softened by relief. “You nearly gave me a heart attack, and now you’re calling that fine?”
His head slumped back in his seat with a small laugh.
His hand then tapped on your leg to gain your attention “You scared me out there you know… how are you feeling?”
You did not respond. Your head did not move.
“Y/n?” he sat upright. You did not move again, you were still. His hand went instinctively to your cheek, moving your face towards him. That’s when he noticed your half closed eyes and a read stream coming out of your nose.
Ryland’s eyes widened, heart slamming in his chest. “Oh God, no, no, no, no!”
“R-ryland” you voice was so weak, barely a whisper. You felt the hot liquid trickling down your nose, you were so tired. The hit you took outside was quickly catching up on you. It was probably a concussion, a really bad one.
“I need you to stay awake, do not close your eyes” he abruptly sat up, came in front of you and cupped your face in his hands, which was slowly lolling to the side. Sheer panic clouded his mind, his blood run cold at the sight. You were getting paler and the blood continued to stream down.
You felt yourself fading, the warmth of blood and the sting of pain merging into a haze. Ryland’s face hovered over yours, eyes wide with panic, his thumb brushing desperately across your cheek. He managed to find a cloth in one of his pockets and pressed it to stop the bleeding.
“Y/N stay awake please, keep those beautiful eyes open” he pressed the cloth to your nose, fumbling with trembling hands. The bleeding did not stop, he had to bring you to the sickbay. Unfastening your seatbelt, he felt his heart skip a few beats when your body fell limp on his chest. He took you in his arms, holding you tight to his chest.
“I’ve got you. I’ve got you, Y/N. Just stay with me…”
______________________________________________
Minutes, maybe hours went by while the robot worked on you. Your body lied on the stretcher; you seemed peaceful which horrified Grace. Images of the deceased members of the ship flashed before his eyes and he felt the sting of tears prickling at the side.
That’s when your eyes opened again. You stirred slightly, a groan escaping as your eyes fluttered open “Hey, hey… there you are. I’ve got you. You’re okay.”
The tears he was holding ran down his face freely. His hand went to gently stroke your hair.
“Ryland” you whispered with a pained smile, a wave of relief hitting him like a warm breeze.
“I thought I’ve lost you” he breathed out
“I won’t go anywhere” he was so close you could feel his warmth. Your voice trembled with emotion
“You scared me to death, please do not put yourself in danger anymore. I don’t care about the mission or the samples or Tau Ceti or any of this… I can’t—I just can’t imagine this without you. You’re—” He swallowed hard, voice hoarse with emotion

Summary: Reader decided to play as bait in a bounty hunting and Din switches to protective mode;
A/N: Hi everyone! This is a quick Mandalorian oneshot that popped in my mind, and just felt the need to write it. Hope you enjoy it! love you all xo xo
“You are not doing this”
Din modulated voice resonated in your sleeping quarters where you were getting dressed.
“Din we already talked about this” you said steadily while putting on your earrings “It’s gonna be okay”
The bounty you were on wasn’t easy at all. From what you had heard this man, Ryben Guri, liked hanging out at bars and have some fun with women when he was not out puttin bounties on his head. Many other hunters had tried to catch him vainly, and this time, it was your turn as you came up with the idea of playing as bait, gaining the absolute and most harsh disagreement you ever heard from the Mandalorian. Just the idea of some riffraff hovering around you with their dirty minds and handsy behaviors, was enough to make his blood boil in his veins.
But you needed the credits of the bounty, not only for you but also for the child. You had to do that job, and even if Din wasn’t keen of the idea, he couldn’t deny it was a good plan.
The dress you chose to wear was modest but oh boy. It was simple but elegant and it hugged your curves beautifully. Too much for Din’s liking. Not only because you were about to go in a bar full of the worst scum in the galaxy, but also because being around you and seeing you in that dress was really challenging. As soon as he entered your quarters he stopped right in his track and just looked at you in both shock and awe.
Traveling across the galaxy did not require a special or somehow elegant attire, so it was the first time that Din ever saw you wearing those kind of things and he didn’t mind at all. Until he felt his palms sweating under his gloves, and who could blame him? You were stunning, breathtaking.
The word ‘beautiful’ was born with her,he thought.
“Okay, I think I’m ready”
“You don’t need to do this, I can catch him” he said with his calm voice.
“Bet you can, I’ll just give a hand” you turned and give him a wink before heading out as Din felt his knees go weak.
There was no way he could actually convince you otherwise, so he sighed heavily and followed you towards the hangar door.
