It’s not there as some meta fallback for the robroners, I don’t buy the money angle at all, the dying is the reason all this is happening and not just because it means Kev is out, because to be honest even if he wasn’t I think Robert would still feel the same.

Ryan said himself, Robert “never thought he’d see Kev again” as if he was just going to seal him away from his future forever. He jumped into Operation Get Aaron Back with two feet and seemed okay with it. His memories of prison were surrounding his trauma and difficulty adjusting, not his relationship.

But now Kev is dying. Sure he can use the inheritance as a pretty decent reason for doing all this, but I just don’t think it’s true.

Dying is a lot. You don’t have to be madly in love with someone to be affected by them dying. Hell, many survivors will talk about their conflicting feelings when their abusers are dying, just look at Jeanette McCurdy.

It’s clear now Kev isn’t Jason. He wasn’t a tormentor, I’d probably say he wasn’t an abuser (though the dynamics still hold some concern), the relationship most likely wasn’t healthy but I think considering the circumstances it was a relationship, and still is.

Robert’s in love with Aaron, he knows it, Aaron knows it, anyone within earshot of Robert over the past six months knows it. It’s so certain, loving Aaron is as simple as breathing air.
