and combine this with the eastern technology scare racism that the west funneled into their cyberpunk genres of "Asia will take over the world with a dystopian tech revolution," when a large influencer of making eastern countries including japan, progress faster is in fact, the USA, after the USA (and europe) came in with mass weapons of destruction and made asians feel primitive and backwards.
