Stylish Students
Stylish Students was a project to get your confidence up talking to people as you were tasked to go out and look for students that you think have good style and ask them for a photo.
Wait for it
For this project we had to seek out a specific location with good lighting and harsh shadows where we had to wait for someone to walk into the frame at the right time creating the image.

7) Glasgow voted friendliest city top ten. Find an image which portrays this.
8) Article about problem with inconsiderate parking in Glasgow.
Bin Strike
As a photojournalist I had the task of capturing images showing the problems being caused by the bin strike. I think I have achieved this as my images clearly show the problems in a creative way as I thought about my composition and lighting for each image I took.
Moving image post-production
After batch renaming my files I uploaded them into iMovie where I edited them all together, I used the exposure tool to take the exposure down on some of my files as I felt they were too bright. I also added a copy right free song to my moving image that was soft to fit into the subject matter of my moving image.
Moving image evaluation
This project was all about capturing a moving image 90 seconds that include multiple moving image techniques with different shots. My favourite part of this project was planning and shooting it as it allowed me to become really creative and make me more confident in filming. The new techniques that I learnt while doing this project is setting up specific shots such as close ups and wide shots, I also learn to focus change which is something that I would really like to work more on. The moving images that I got inspiration from are ‘The Wait’, ‘Suitcase’ and ‘Homemade. Each of these moving images use multiple techniques to create an atmosphere which I feel I have achieved. The most successful part of this project was following my storyboard and creating it how I wanted it. During filming the lighting changed multiple times making it hard to capture and image that is not over exposed so I had to take the exposure down in post-production however it never made a difference as when I took it down too much it effected all the other colours in the image so when filming again, I will make sure that I avoid that if I were to do this project again.
Frame rates
The most common frame rates are 60, 50, 48, 30, 25 and 24 frames per second. Depending on what you want to film the frame rates are different for different atmospheres.

I will be using a DSLR camera with a CPL filter and my tripod.
Moving image techniques
Panning is a technique that moves the camera around showing the scenes surrounding it and can even be used when using a tilt.
Zooming is a technique normally using a longer focal length. This technique is where you can change the shot from a wide shot to a close up shot.
Tilting is a technique where the camera stays put but slowly moves down. The shot is normally used when the current shot is blocking what has been talked about and makes a smooth transition to the next shot.
Tracking is usually longer shots where the camera is following the subject. It is normally shot using a dolly so that it creates a smooth shot.
A dolly is a cart with wheels that makes sure the shot is smooth. The dolly is controlled by the camera man and the focus puller.
A focus puller is an assistant who has the responsibility of focusing on the subject the they are filming.
Long shots are shots that are taken from quite far away showing the scenery around and is normally used for location shots.
Medium shots are used to show both the character and everything around them.
Close up shots are filmed with a long lens and mainly used to highlight the characters emotions.
A point of view shot is a shot that is filmed from the characters point of view, showing everything from their perspective.
Birds eye view shots are shots that is filmed directly above the character normally about 90 degrees.
A shoulder mount is a substitute for a tripod that creates a smooth shot when on location.
A Steadicam is used to keep the camera steady when filming when moving with the camera. This is commonly used for filming music videos.
The dolly is also another piece of Equipment used to help film steady footage as it keeps the camera steady when moving along when using the tracking method.
Moving image inspiration
The wait is a short moving image video that has been uploaded onto YouTube. This video consists of many shots using many different camera techniques like close ups, wide angle shots and extreme close ups. The camera techniques used are zooming in, tracking and tilt. This is a successful moving image as it is humorous and is demonstrating the characters dream.

Suitcase is made up of wide-angle shots and has used the tracking technique through the entire moving image. This is a moving image made for a school assignment that has been uploaded onto YouTube which main focuses was to create suspense.

Homemade is a moving image about a girl making her mum a cake to say thank you for working for the NHS through the pandemic. I really like the warm tones throughout the moving image. Homemade consists of wide-angle shots, close up and extreme close ups and using's the tracking technique throughout.

Recycle evaluation
This project was all about using a technique called painting with light which is a technique where you take multiple pictures that are lit different with your camera on a tripod to ensure that your camera stays in the same place the entire time, then editing each image together to create a fine art look to your final image. I enjoyed using the pen tool with a black mask to create my image as I like that my final image looked like a painting because of this technique. It took me a while to get use to using a black mask however once I got the hang of it I managed to do it no problem and really enjoyed the process. Painting with light was a new technique that I learnt as how it is important to light each of your objects from different directions including the background to get the best results and is a technique that I would like to work on more. Photographers that I researched for this project are Harold Ross, Dave Montizambert and Julie Powell, each of these photographers use the painting with light technique and images look like paintings which is was influenced me most. Painting with light is something that I enjoyed learning and feel that I done well, I would love to look at cooperating more into my images. The first time I captured all of my images when I was looking through them all I discovered that I had bumped the tripod and couldn’t use a lot of my images meaning I had to reshoot, this made me aware that I had to be really careful when reshooting. If I was to do this project again I would take images of objects with more textures to really get that fine art look.
Lost and found inspiration
This image colour be a creative way of advertising these shoes as it catches peoples eyes because its not supposed to be there, this project that we are doing has to be something like this where you must capture an object in a location that it shouldn’t be in a humorous way. I like this image as it has warm tones and has an interesting subject matter.
This image caught my eye because I recognise the Gherkin financial building in London. This image has a sense of humour as the building in London where it is always raining has a shower cap on it. The image of the Gherkin building itself is enough for me to be drawn in as it is a excellent image of it.
This image also has a sense of humour as the photographer has decided to photoshop a basket ball hoop on a building with tones of glass windows that would not last if a basketball was thrown at it. I like the way the Photographer has photographed this image of the building with the basketball hoop on it and also included the other buildings to show you how high up the main building is almost like a basketball hoop should be.
I really like the focal length photographer as chosen for this image as it allows you to see everything else around and the colour of the dart board match the colours in the window on the building the dart board is on along with other colours. I also light the hight this image was taken at as it clear lines your eyes up to the focal point of this image.
This image caught my eye as I really like the warm tones of the sparkling lights on the building. I think this photographer has picked a perfect object to place on top of this building as the warm light of the flame matches the warm tones of the light in each window of the building. I also like how the Photographer has chosen to make the water soft and calm looking matching the colour tones and the subject matter.

Architecture evaluation
This project was about capturing 3 images of a building such as a wide image of the front of the building and another of the main part of the building both showing perspective control and one that shows texture of the outside of the building. Architecture is not only about the outside of a building but also the interior, as part of this project I had to capture two interior shots. I enjoyed this project as architecture photography is something I have always been interested in, the part I like most was look for interesting ways to capture the outside of the building. During the editing process I had to use a new tool called wrap perspective which allows you to straighten parts of the building that may have become slightly distorted when captured. The wrap perspective tool is a tool I will be using in the future and would love to develop further. Photographers who's work influence me are Julius Shulman, Andreas Gursky, Berenice Abbott, Mihai Florea and Iwan Baan as all these photographers' images show amazing texture using light and shadows. I feel I have successfully captured the building as if I was asked to do so by an architect promoting their work as I really liked the way my images have turned out and feel that they show the beauty of the building. The weather was not the best on the day I was shooting and would have like to have a clear sky with lots of natural sun light as it would make the image look more appealing. If I was to do this project again, I would go on a clear sunny day at noon so that I would be able to capture the clear sky and natural light shining on the front of the building and make sure that I don’t bump my tripod as in my second interior image it was really hard to use a black mask to edit the better lit window as I must have moved the tripod by accident.

Each of these images have been carefully selected as my favourite images that I have taken for this projects and the ones I hope to develop further.
