It was an honor to work alongside other nurses and drs administering hundreds of π COVID-19 Vaccines
So I figured I would start posting "JEMS" lil tidbit short videos that have helped me master some of the content that I find super interesting and is extremely complex. That being said, I am a Cardiovascular junkie- I love the heart I love the mechanics and I love literally everything about the CV system. It was not always like that to be 100% honest, I literally hated it in A&P and I think that was because the content wasn't specific enough. Mainly meaning it was broad, and presumed the reader knew how to put the blocks of information together or that the "meat" of the content was grazed over and other less important (nothing in the CV system is less important than another tho) or pertinent was highlighted for the skill level I was on. Once I started doing my own research and reading countless textbooks, articles, diagrams, pictures ect... you name it I started to get a really good handel on the CV system and was able to build from there an actual passion for it... And now, I am an ACLS certified provider by the AHA ( Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support). I have plans to continue pursuing cardiology as a focus and specialty care and even entertain the possibility of NP, eventually... But end rant. I will be posting some awesome videos of breakdown material many nursing students find challenging and hopefully it helps someone master and possibly gain the same passion and find a specialty or niche they would like to explore or pursue!
Enjoy

I truly am so thankful to have met these women @jademadss and @jessiegriffith ... I really don't think that I would have been able to stay partially sane in this program, during COVID, and everything else that is the literal flames if HE** in nursing school and this past year, if it wasn't for them. They both add such different and amazing things, and offering their special fairy dust exactly when it is needed at the perfect time. They are two of the strongest, and smartest women I know and I am so grateful I know them- They are going to be kick booty nurses. Love you girls!! <3
Nurses are human too, and nursing school is stressful!! Read. That. AGAIN.
I am a huge advocate of mental health awareness so if this can help anyone with coping with stress, depression, insomnia, or anything that feels abnormal or uncomfortable, I have reached my goal. Read this post for some helpful sleep, anxiety, depression, distractions and coping mechs and maybe use them, and drop a line and tell me if they worked! or not.. you don't have to :)... We are all in this together we will get through!

This. Everything about this is important to remember.
DISCLAIMER: This is a bit of a rant, but I promise you will navigate away from this post with an itty bitty seed that will grow when you are ready to water it.
Nursing school thus far has literally given me a ridiculous amount of invaluable information/lessons, that quite honestly, I feel the majority have yet to really sink in, and most often feel like my brain is on overload or just exploding.. Buttt, it's the little moments, such as now when you can reflect on a dark time or low/difficult point(s), and see value in the lessons you have and are learning... Specifically, learning to be kind to myself... IT is important to care for yourself with the same care you would want (as nurse) to give your patient....
This time last year I struggled (like so many) with my depression & the lemmons life had dealt me, the cherry topping it off was the "lovely"[<-sarcasm] arrival of SARs-COV-2 everything truly did feel hopeless/fruitless and daunting. It wasn't until I started to change the way I was thinking about myself could I change the way I felt about my life. BE KIND!
PRO TIP: Making one small change to your mental framework each day such as breaking the cycle of negativity, an old habit, or even not forming a judgment can drastically improve your mental.
Try this: 14 day + challenge: Every morning when you first wake up, think of 3 things that you are grateful for. Every night while you are in bed for the night recall 3 things that went well and 3 things you are grateful for. Do this for 14 days ( continue! make it a habit by 21d) and you will notice yourself starting to look for the good rather than the bad in your daily life; improving mental clarity, mood, and overall health!
Nursing is rarely boring or predictable. In few other professions, we are present at lifeβs most momentous events, from birth to death, from crisis to recovery. For those who thrive on variety and the full spectrum of human drama, every day brings a range of new situations.
