A dom thought
What if dominance actually had an effect on the climate of Sornieth? Like if Lightning wins dom thereâs a week of world-wide heavy storms, when Ice wins the temperature drops, Shadow dom ensures for dark, gloomy weather, Earth causes dust storms, etc.
With Light grabbing dom so often it means itâs been particularly sunny these past few months, and everyoneâs sporting a very nice tan at this point.
Neliana - Apprentice Scientist
âShadow Touchedâ
Neliana is the only child of the leviathan Aquarius, and the swift messenger Cielo. Although her parents are both Imperials, she hatched as a Nocturne. Her parents were naturally worried, but Esmeerelda assured them that nothing was wrong. It was decided that the night of the nocturne event may have had some influence on the clutch. Neliana's siblings were sent away to the Lightweaver, as was clan tradition, but Esmeerelda decided to keep Neliana. From her hatching she showed great promise in the sciences and magic. A perfect assistant for Esmeerelda. Neliana is a quiet Nocturne. She loves her studies and working in the lab under Esmeerelda. Because she is rather small, and also very sweet, she is protected fiercely by the clan.

Seraphina -Â Tactician
"Get your rock off my map" Seraphina has a very cold personality. She is distant from a lot of her clan members, and prefers solitude over even the company of her mate. Although she comes off as aloof, she does have a kind heart and has only the best intentions for her clan. Being a tactician is all she has ever known. When she was young and still in plague her clan groomed her to become their hidden trick to winning wars with other clans. Seraphina soon got tired of warfare and slipped away in the night. Along the way she met Alexis who had been sent from his clan to find a mate. Being desperate she agreed to return to his clan. This new clan offered her any position she could ever dream of. From nest cleaner to warlord, nothing was out of her reaches. After she settled in she realized that she could never run from her past, and became the Tactician for her new clan, although they have yet to make use of her.
Some headcanons for dragon bonding/affection/friendly body language and social customs (etc.):
Guardians: Extend a wing over smaller dragons to comfort and shelter them; make a deep rumbling noise when very happy or content (this can last for several minutes and be rather startling to dragons whoâve never heard it before).
Wildclaws: Lots of nuzzling and playful mouthing, especially when young; resting their heads and long necks on another dragonâs back.
Imperials: Gentle nuzzles and licks are common, along with some rubbing/scent marking. Highly bonded imperials will often touch and entwine their sensitive whiskers together for long periods, a form of intimacy that seems odd to other breeds. They also purr softly when very content.
Pearlcatchers: Not very physically affectionate; prefer to have deep conversations as a form of bonding. Pearlcatcher pairs may briefly touch whiskers, or drape them over close friends/mates of another breed, but do not entwine them like Imperials. Touching the whiskers of a Pearlcatcher who isnât comfortable with you is a major social transgression among Pearlcatchers.
Skydancers: Careful, extensive preening sessions - you know youâre friends with a Skydancer when they start trying to groom you. Sometimes they will try to groom dragons they have upset/are not on good terms with as a form of appeasement.
Tundra: Sniffing and rubbing/scent-marking. A Tundra who rubs its scent on you has declared you a good friend. If a dragon is friendly with many Tundra, they may go to sleep alone and wake up surrounded by a protective circle of Tundra, all facing outward to watch for danger.
Mirrors: Half-lid their eyes or close their foremost set of eyes when comfortable with someone, as a wide-eyed stare would indicate aggression. An extremely comfortable mirror (especially a young one) will often flop their sinuous body over you and sleep on you in a variety of odd positions. Aggressive âlove-bitesâ and scratches also occur, and a mirror may leave a bite or scar on another dragon to say âmineâ.
Spirals: Coiling around another dragon. Itâs not uncommon to see an Imp or Guardian trying to walk and go about their daily business while a spiral coils lovingly around their limbs.
Snappers: Not very physically affectionate, except for the occasional gentle headbutt. May produce a deep rumble/hum when content, similar to Guardians.
Coatl: Hum softly while flicking their tongues slowly as an expression of pleasure and peace. Gift-giving (in the form of small precious metals or gems) is an important bonding custom.
Fae: Perch and sleep on larger dragons, and keep a keen watch on friends from a distance. They seem aloof and unkind to many other breeds, even when being their most friendly.
Ridgebacks: Like Guardians, they will extend a wing to shelter smaller dragons. They have a penchant for bonding through storytelling and borrowing games rather than physical means.
Elemental battle headcanons
Lightning: Touching a pissed off Lightning fighter can result in effects similar to tasering. They also tend to make electricity arc between their horns, spikes and claws, burning and shocking anything that touches them.
Light: Light dragons can make themselves utterly blinding to look atâ and hitting something you can't look at is significantly harder.
Arcane: Regardless of fighting style, Arcane dragons are known to create temporary extra body parts for themselvesâ usually eyes or mouths. Not only does this freak unprepared enemies out, but having another eye can help the dragon avoid danger.
Shadow: They can become invisible. All the better for sneaking in for an attack.. or sneaking away.
Fire: Fire dragons have flammable spit, so any bite one receives from a Fire dragon is at extreme danger of instantly igniting.
Nature: Skilled Nature warriors have been known to create an exoskeleton of sorts from living plants. These living suits of armour not only protect the dragon, but make them hit even harder. Some are also extremely venomous.
Water: In a rather vampiric fashion, Water dragons can drain moisture from anything they bite or scratch. This can have extremely nasty consequences.
Wind: Battling a Wind dragon is extremely disorientingâ winds appear out of nowhere and will buffet the opponent in the face, or carry a rock up to hit them, or even knock them back a few paces. It's never clear where the Wind dragon actually is.
Earth: Armour made of stones is extremely common, and the armour can be moulded and shaped at will, for whatever the fighter needs.
Plague: All plague dragons have two pouches in their upper jaws, containing a highly toxic slurry of acid and extremely resilient bacteria. Any bite from a Plague dragon will fester within a day. This is extremely useful for taking down large enemies.
Ice: Ice dragons will coat their teeth, claws, spines and horns in a sheet of razorlike ice, lengthening their reach and honing them to a ridiculous sharpness. this also reinforces their claws and spikes, making damage less likely.
This was really the only good egg that I hatched.
He has Ginger, Copper, and Orange
He is in the auction house right now, and if he doesnât sell Iâll keep him, but I have no idea what to do with him.
Please, if you want this take it
I donât want it, I donât even want to sell it, so if you want it message me and take them.
I hatched all of my gen one eggs. it was a sad place to be because they are all awful.
An ice aligned fae female with mauve, avocado, and stone
Iâll keep it for a few days, and then it will be exalted because I donât want it.

Hatching Dragons
Like literally everyone else I will be hatching some eggs tomorrow/the next day (Depending on the websiteâs damage from so many users)
I have two light eggs, two nocturne eggs, and an ice egg that I will be hatching. When I hatch them I will post them up here to either show them off or try to get rid of them.
I also have three nests that I will be breaking open as well, any pretties from that will probably get shown off here too because a lot of people will be interested in a lot of new colors and combinations.
Also - I REALLY need a triple eldritch dragon, so like if any show up let me know? doesnât have to be gen one, just any dragon.
this literally canât be an original thought, but I like to think that dragon eggs arenât made in the, uh, physical way? Because they all look the same in the nest, and that look depends on their element, and obviously some pairings could not possibly physically mate. So I like to thing theyâre the manifesting of combined magic powers. Like, the parents sit together and it may take moments or it may take days and days but they focus their intent and their want for children and their personalities and magic kind of swirl together and build up into eggs that then have to be hatched the ânormalâ way, hence dragons sitting on nests and such
You are not alone friend, thatâs exactly what I prefer to assumeÂ
@rosemund-fr HEY DUDE U WANNA TALK ABOUT THIS?? if not I apologise for summoning u
With immense apologies for scrambling all over your post: I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS A LOT. Not in the creepy âhow do dragons have sexâ way but in the fascinated-disturbed âHOW DO DRAGONS HAVE SEXâ way. The answer is of course that they donât (well, they can, if theyâre the same breed/close enough in size/willing to communicate a LOT/very determined), but that begs the question: where do the eggs come from?
Long story short: there are two entirely different kinds of eggs, no matter how similar they may look. Elemental/Unhatched eggs come from the feral clansâ great single-species droves of the plentiful breeds (and also Nocturne colonies), more elaboration on the difference between those clans (and why their offspring never have genes) and player-organized clans hereâ while laid eggs? Are the direct provision of the deities.
See, the player-organized clans as I envision them came about as a direct result of the deities wanting to fight each other and the beastclans for dominance. The strength found in diversity of species/skill/training is responsible for the existence of mixed-species clans, period (though of course, from there civilization develops, and complexity and society).Â
Anyway, soon you get dragons that are WILDLY DIFFERENT physically forming close bondsâ whether in battle, or through alliances, foraging parties, or just hanging out. These dragons want hatchlings, for various personal and societal reasons. But short of waging war on/stealing from other clans, thereâs no physical possibility (unless they want to have breeding partners as well, which I see dragon society having less stigma against, but thatâs a whole ânother post).
They appeal to the deities. âMore dragons for your service,â they say, and the deities agree.
So: Some combination of the Arcanist, the Stormcatcher, and the Gladekeeper craft magical vessels, egg-shaped, which they distribute to the other gods. Each god âprimesâ these vessels with their own elemental magic, and then distributes them to the clan. And then any pair of dragons (I can see NO LOGICAL REASON other than human convention why only dragons of different sexes can breedâ why is a fae and an imperial more realistic than two females?? //still offended on behalf of Agmina/Collu// I guess we just go with âuuh, the gods said so idkâ) can impart their own magical signature and, after enough time spent with the eggs to make sure their magical signatures are fully absorbed (i.e. incubation period), out pop little dragons looking just (vaguely) like their parents!
and BAM there yâgo I have adopted this headcanon.
Thank u Rosen.

Just a Reminder
With the new wheel out in the few days, remember at the same time, weâre going to get corrections to all the incorrect genes. So make sure you save images of dragons with sand vipera/hypnotic, seafoam ripple/current on female guardians, spring glimmer on male sprials, etc etc for your own memory of them.
I donât know where thereâs a comprehensive list of errors, but it might be worth it to look through this thread.
iâll list some in case people donât want to go through the thread looking (there are so many. i stopped after page 36. these are all the ones i saw that i confirmed are still an issue)
crimson shimmer on fae, guardian (blood colored)
potentially irishim on all the older breeds (mirror, fae, guardian, tundra) (many breeds colors are inconsistent with other breeds)
shadow crackle on male guardians (midnight colored)
coatls with sunshine primary (belly is dark on females, light on males) + any gene
old breeds with sky primary (ears/horns are aqua or cornflower inconsistently)
spring on old breeds (color inconsistencies between secondary and primary)
beige tiger male guardians (orange on fins)
spring circuit on guardians (appears as leaf)
male ridgebacks with iridescent primary (one scale right before the arm is displaying as basic)
dragons with pink crackle (some breeds appear more dull, some are very bright)
obsidian circuit on coatls, faes, guardians
denim primary female coatls (swirls are dark grey, not light blue like on hatchlings and males)
seafoam tiger and/or stripes (dark color does not match)
black tiger on wildclaw male (stripes are not clipped at the belly edge on the tail)
green circuit on coatls (duller than other breeds)
lemon primary female coatl (may only be on iri - dark green curls)
female tundras with slate crackle
carmine ripple/current on male pearlcatchers (has orange in it)
female snappers with teal crackle (grey edges)
male imperials with stripes (slightly transparent or lighter)
ivory primary on coatls (curls white or maize-ish)
tomato primary on coatls (curls dull or bright orange)
azure current on male tundras (looks almost basic)
snappers with ivory ripple and current (males are too dark, females too light)
male coatls with facet (color inconsistencies with male and female, males are incorrect)
also a note that irishim might not change on any breeds as i believe undel states irishim still has to be done manually. they could still be updated, though.
Also I could be wrong but the âbackgroundâ of lemon thylacine on all breeds should technically be brown and not yellow, no? Iâm hoping that gets fixed as well.
How could you forget spring glimmer on male spirals which is displaying as âWe just donât knowâ
this had been foreseen. Â The Great Hatchling Drought. Â Oh, there were still hatchlings to be sure but they were a rarity. Â More and more couples were finding themselves sitting on nests for weeks, years, trying to coax the little ones from their shells and yet nothing seemed to work. Â Some wondered if the eggs had turned to stone, others thought that something in the modern dragonâs diet had thickened the shell so much that hatchlings couldnât break out. Â Regardless, the result was tragedy, many a clan accidentally killed their fetuses by trying to hatch the eggs with a chisel, a long drop, a soak in something to dissolve the shell, anything. Â For some reason, some unknown reason, the hatchlings just werenât ready to be born. Â
The seers had the right of it. Â They had said this would happen to any who would listen. Â More practical dragons had laughed it off, not understanding how it was possible. Â Hatchlings would always be born just as Sornieth would continue to circle the sun. Â
Some clans vowed to study it, collecting not only their own unhatchable nests but orphaned eggs as well. Â Some lairs were filled to the brim with eggs of all elements while clan scientists tried to figure out just how to lift this curse. Â
Still the seers whispered, it would be done soon. Â Soon the eggs would hatch, soon the children would be back and when they were back they would be even more beautiful than their ancestors. Â

Itâs a geopolitical map of Sornieth! Yay! Here it is with the real world so you can get a better sense of scale! Well, Sornieth is actually 1.5x as large as Earth, but this is a good continent-size-to-planet-size scale visualization!Â
This took a while for how simple it ended up looking. Basically what I did was used my âWinkel-Tripel projectionâ correction of the canon map and combined that with heavily referencing the close-up maps of each territory, matching the contours as closely as I could. I attempted to correct the side-on perspective, scaled down over-sized rivers and other features, turned a lot of things into islands, and gave Water a little land territory to be the Tsunami Flats. In actuality this has turned into a rather large country, probably the size of Chile. Well, itâs 1.5x as big as Chile, but, you know. Fun fact, the equator of Sornieth is 60,113 km (37,352 miles) long!Â
I am quite contentedly chalking up what seem to be river flow irregularities to unseen elevation/continental divides; what seem to be strange biome locations to unknown weather patterns and a healthy dose of magic (the deities reshaped each territory to their liking, itâs probable that before the Pillar shatter there was a much more ânormalâ biome spread); and the statement in the official lore that the Pillar of the World is the northernmost point of the planet as literary hyperbole because mapping that would be beyond me.Â
So this is my first attempt at standardized Sornieth cartography. I donât expect it will match everyoneâs headcanons, but Iâm pretty pleased with it.Â
Oh, and hereâs where you can see it on an actual globe!
Consider: warrior skydancers who have their antenna, and sometimes their gems, removed so they donât have to feel the emotions of their kills.
Removal of the antenna as a ritual when a skydancer has completed their warrior training. Some of them are kept as keepsakes, others are discarded as a way to symbolize abandoning all mercy.
Also consider: warrior skydancers who keep their antenna just so they can sense the fear in their kills, and enjoy their dying panic.
