Phoebe Tonkin attends NET-A-PORTER’s Celebrating Women Behind The Lens event Feburary 2016
I wish I could bottle up my family and take them with me. When I was here last I hung out with four of my closest school friends for the first time in eight years. I really miss that familiarity and the type of banter I can have with my Aussie friends.
I enjoy staying home with friends more than going out. The other night, for example, my girlfriends and I stayed in listening to some ‘90s rap - my favorite kind. We were in the Hamptons and made it an all-Biggie weekend, all of his albums on repeat. I loved it.
What’s a favorite motto or quote that you try to live by? “Be the change you wish to see in the world” -Gandhi

“There isn’t a lot of work in Australia. I think that’s why everyone comes over to America to find jobs and pilots and things, because there’s not enough work to justify staying there, unfortunately. Like, I wish there was. I would love to stay home and be working with my family around the corner, but the work just isn’t there.”
robin-macphereson:
“You’re right! And flipping out at him isn’t gonna solve shit! Take it from the angriest person in Lakewood, anger doesn’t solve shit. It just causes more problems.” Robin reasoned. “Look…You wanna do something about it? Call the fucking cops. Get him arrested, get him punished, but you attacking him… That just gives him reasons to call the cops on you, like assault. Trust me, Sara. He’s not worth it.” They continued, bringing their lips close to her ear. “Plus… We’re in public, and if you’re gonna beat the shit out of someone, everyone knows you take ‘em to a back alley. I’ll stick around here, wait until he leaves and I’ll make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone ever again.” They whispered, patting her back and pulling away.
Watching Robin, and listening to the words that got whispered against her hairline, it made her skin goosebump down her arms. Strangely due to the contact, but also strangely due to the fact Robin was ready to give this person a real beating that Sara wouldn’t be able to, even though she wished she could. Staring something aggressive at them, Sara took a moment before speaking again. “Can I trust you to promise me that?”
liamcohen:
“I know…” To be honest, Liam didn’t know much of anything, but there wasn’t any point to that right now. He let a breath go, glancing between the pair, and then to Kaylee’s room a moment. “He’ll get what’s coming to him,” he added.
“I don’t think he will...” She argued.
samxturner:
Sam took a step back, keeping a watchful eye on the woman. Was this what Rowan had to deal with every day? “Then ask him to meet you outside so you can punch him to death, but not here. The only thing you’re going to gain by acting like this is getting security to escort you out.”
She eased up, only because she could see his point and knew that at the end of the day, the man was right. Sara wanted the person responsible for Kaylee to pay --- but she couldn’t do that here. “Fine.”
okaykieren:
While Sara may not have been physically frightening, she certainly was verbally. Kieren was quick to step back, giving Sara room in case she decided to turn on him next. “I’m not trying to manage you, Sara, I’m trying to keep you from hurting yourself, or I don’t know, getting thrown out of here.” Kieren said, looking past Sara at the nurses station where several nurses were watching them with admonishing eyes. “You’re right, you don’t, I’m not trying to tell you what to do, but this isn’t going to help.”
“Well stop it.” She snapped at him. “You’re not my boyfriend, you’re not my brother, so you don’t get to tell me what to do.” In the back of her mind, Sara knew she was being ridiculously out of order. She always did in moments like this, but she wasn’t able to control her emotions as easily as some others. “And neither is standing around, acting like nothing happened.”

tristan-bordeaux:
“I’m not defending him. If anything, the only one I’m defending here is Kaylee.” He paused, jaw flexing when he gritted his teeth and looked up at Mason, jerking his head to the side to indirectly ask him to go. “I am mad, Sara, but I don’t know what happened! All I know is she’s not gonna want to wake up to this! So just… fuck— I hate hospitals, can we just leave already? There’s nothing we can do right now, and you don’t need to be here for this, okay? Let’s just get out of here— let’s just go.”
“Yeah right.” Sara scoffed, turning her face away irritably, hearing him speak and wishing he’d stop. Just stop. The noise was grinding her gears and she just wanted all of it to stop. “You don’t fucking know what she’d want, okay, so don’t pretend like you do.” She snapped at Tristan, looking back at him. “And I don’t care what you hate, I’m not leaving her. So if it bothers you so much, how about you just go?”
sladeriaz:
“With that design and its size and detail, I would say the price would be around $200 if you go with black and grey, but about $230 with color. What were you thinking?
"No color --- I’m not that trashy. Just the outline works for me.” Sara quips at the guy, clearly showing off the tattoos she already has. A hamsa hand in the center of her back, a lotus flower on her arm, then a few extras under her clothes that weren’t available to the eye right now. “Does Marco still work here? He usually does all my ink.”
adebailey:
Ade glanced up from the book he was reading, his gaze shifting to the person hovering over his table. He’d been sat in rePUBLIC for the last hour or so, trying to unwind before he headed home – today’s school run had been particularly horrible. “If you want to sit down, you can just ask, you know,” he commented, light smile on his features. “I don’t bite.”
“Shame. You could give your teeth a good work out.” Sara quips before sitting down on the stool, plopping her bag on the counter and lifting her Irish espresso cocktail to her lips. “I’m not really the ask for permission type. But thanks.”
sophie-cartwright:
“No- I’m fine. Just fine.” Sophie mumbled to the person beside her. “I’m drunk, I lost my keys, and somehow I thought it would be a good decision to move back to the one place I swore never to return to. Thank you for asking though.”
“Been there.” Sara sighs, glancing at the girl. “Trust me, get yourself a Gatorade and some Aspirin, you’ll be good as new in the morning.”
What’s more fun to play a witch or werewolf? A witch, definitely. They’re a little naughtier.

‘I don’t know, I’m literally the most awkward, socially strange person.’
Which Australian film best describes you? You know I studied Picnic at Hanging Rock in high school. It was such an incredibly inspiring film to me as a teenager. I really loved the costumes and wanted to grow my hair out like the girls in it. I would say I am still a bit of a wanderer like Miranda in the film.
