Jax regarded her skeptical tone, the cute eyebrow-raised expression with a wry smile. While he did trust Reiko to an almost scary degree â it hadnât taken her long to weasel her way into his heart â he figured it was a discussion saved for the future. The far future, if he had any say in the matter.
How do you casually tell someone that youâre legally dead, but also a wanted fugitiveâŚ? At any rate it wasnât the time or the place. Their Alolan vacation was about rest and relaxation, and such heavy topics were certain to dampen the mood. So, with that excuse reason in mind, he decided to leav
âMore than youâd think.â His tone was light and laced with humor, but before she could ask any further he diverted the topic to her own work; she had much more interesting things going on than he did, after all. The rest of the flight went by quickly for him as he chatted with Reiko and the two flipped through an Alola Guidebook they had found on the plane. Before long they had arrived in their paradise for the next two weeks, and the keys to the rental vehicle placed in his hand.
âIf youâre going to be this cute the entire time this really is going to be a fun vacation.â He teased her, lightly flicking her nose before opening the passenger door for her. Before long they were off to the hotel, which was somehow more grand than it looked in photos.
Pulling up to the entrance, they were immediately greeted by a valet and a bellhop, taking the keys and the luggage bags respectively. Fancy. Jax could certainly get used to this. Their room was on a high floor with a lovely view, or so the receptionist claimed as they checked in; once they reached the correct door Jax slid the card key into the reader and opened it, holding it open.
âAfter you, Princess.â He smiled wryly at her, taking his usual teasing tone that seemed to surface whenever he was around her. Once she was inside he followed, his gaze immediately landing on the bed. That was, singular; one bed, albeit a king sized one. There seemed to have been a mix up, but at a hotel as nice as this he was certain there would be no other rooms available on short notice.
âI can sleep on the sofa.â He offered immediately, gesturing toward the love seat in the other room.Â
Getting set up with the check in, they promptly took their bags off their hands and replaced it with a room key. They went up together, Reiko was hoping the room was nice and spacious. Not that she thought theyâd be spending a lot of time in there together.Â
If he was going to keep calling her princess however, she wasnât really sure if he could even handle her totally yet.Â
Entering the room ahead of him, she noticed the single bed as well. Just their luck, her agency probably figured sheâd be going alone after all. Reiko was sure she told her manager there would be two of them.Â
âAh- wait no.â She put up her hands quickly to stop him. âI cant let you sleep on the couch, look at how small it is compared to you.â Plopping her body down onto the bed, she rolled onto her side to look at him. She was pretending to think.Â
âWe could always share the bed? I donât bite and even if I did,â She smiled playfully at him. âWould you really mind?â Their bags had already been brought into their room while they were checking in which saved them the trouble.Â
âHow about we go explore, iâm starving too.âÂ
