Obliviate || Maura
mauramulciberâ:
âChances are good,â Maura agreed, smiling at Sanya and thinking that was a nice way to put it. She was like an extra chance for Sanya to learn how to obliviate people, wasnât she? And thankfully Sanya didnât seem too offended by the idea that they may need to put in a little extra work, so as long as they were willing, so was Maura.
âExcellent! Gotta admit, Iâm not so good with the bar scene. Or the club scene. Or⌠any scene, really,â Maura admitted with a self-deprecating laugh as she moved to Sanya and extended an elbow. âBut Iâll follow your expert lead. it should be easy to catch one. Iâm actually pretty good at that, guys like offering to come help me and thatâs usually went Cassius shows up to have fun.â
Sanya shrugged. âThatâs all right. I usually like the sidelines but can get in the middle if I need to.â They appraised Maura. âI believe in your abilities to fake pull, though. Youâve practically got Bambi eyes. Iâm sure you can lure plenty of muggle men and women who donât know any better.â
They smirked at the kind of fun she probably got up to with Cass. Sanya had been on a few bar hopping trips of their own with him. If Vic was along, there was drinking and fun, but without her, it was a completely different kind of fun that Sanya enjoyed a lot. âThereâs a place--What? Five blocks over? Not a terribly long walk, and we could always apparate instead.â

Obliviate || Maura
mauramulciberâ:
âWeâre also known for being fair,â Maura said delicately, almost bracing herself for being mocked. Her parents hadnât been overly impressed with her house, but Maura had strove to ensure that the traits prized in hufflepuffs were turned to her familyâs advantage. âWhich means we give people a chance to show their worth.â And to improve, like Sanya with their obliviating skills.
âMuggle,â Maura agreed as she bobbed her head in copy of Sanya. âTheyâre not as good at fighting back and their minds are more malleable, so theyâre better for beginners. It will give you the chance to practice and even if you donât get it right, whoâs going to listen to a raving muggle and check for spellwork on their mind? Itâs a safe option. Can you find us a bar?â
Sanya considered it before admitting, âI donât know if I believe in fair. I suppose I can get behind giving people a chance to prove themselves.â Just because they seemed to fall short every time it mattered didnât mean Sanya had given up any time they received a shot at redemption.Â
They fought back their defensiveness at the idea of needing beginner training. Maura was the expert. Obviously she would know better than they would, and Sanya had clearly been doing something wrong in their approach. âI know a place nearby,â they admitted. Theyâd gone with Cass a few times because he liked to be close enough that they could crash with others if needed.

Cafe in Horizont Alley
His lips pressed together as he surveyed the newspaper in front of him, a cup of espresso on the table in front of him. While Antonin rarely sat in public, he had to admit he was curious to hear what others had to say about the changes that had been occurring in wizarding society lately. Besides, he had nothing to hide as a pureblood of impeccable lineage. He chuckled as he read a line about the upcoming elections. Did they think they would live simply be saying they would protect those who could not protect themselves? Antonin had little respect for those who could not so much as protect themselves and he shook his head as he lifted the cup to his lips.
When a shadow passed over his table, he cocked his head to the side and drawled. âExcuse me, but youâre standing in my light.â He gestured to the paper in front of him.
Sanya didnât see their uncle in public very often, so they were surprised to find him sitting nonchalantly with a paper. When he looked up, they smiled. âI wouldnât have expected to see you here,â they said as they sat down, getting out of his light. âHow have you been lately? I know I havenât been home much.â
It wasnât through any particular fault, but Sanya had been spending a lot of time with Vic since her return, and between nights out for pleasure and for the Dark Lord with Cassius, Sanya felt swamped. They needed a little break mentally before they got reckless. Based on the feedback theyâd received from a recent mission, maybe it was already happening. A conversation with Antonin seemed like the perfect thing for a bit of freshness.

v-for-victoireâ:
âI think thereâs a fair type thing going on a few blocks west of Carkitt Market in the muggle part of town,â Vic suggested, having walked by it a few times on her way to work. She walked towards the storage bin sheâd been keeping everything that shouldnât get on the carpet in, picking up a couple jugs and holding one out for Sanya to take. âMuggle stuff has always been useful, ya dumb fuck.â
Sanya didnât love partying in the muggle part of town. At least, they didnât love it with Vic. Vic mean they had to behave better, but even muggles were worth it to spend time with such a friend. âIâm going to agree to disagree on that one.â Sanya rolled their eyes, not actually wanting to start a fight about it. They took the jug offered, considering it as if it would tell them what it was. If it were a wizarding product, perhaps it might.
editor-in-strangeâ:
âYour âescape planâ was awful and youâre lucky I chanced by,â Rodolphus snapped. âHonestly, have you any sense?â
He watched them sprawl into a chair, and pointedly refuse to cooperate.Â
He raised an eyebrow. âWe are on the same side, Sanya. What do you think Iâm going to do? I have no reason to harm you, to wish you ill. On the contrary, all Iâve done since you started shrieking your head off was attempt to help. We are, quite literally, on the same side.â
He paced the room, considering how best to resolve this. They needed to get out of the Leaky Cauldron, for one. He supposed if Sanya really wanted to take her chances with a faulty memory it was their funeral- after all, the body had already been taken care of. Still, he hated to leave the situation in such a mess, his natural inclination towards order and control rebelling against the idea of abandoning them.
Sanya grit their teeth, telling themself not to lash out at him. He may have been an arrogant busybody, but he was still the kind of their uncle would say to play nice with.Â
âI think,â they began, âthat itâs good practice not to hand over oneâs wand to anyone, much less someone who merely a working relationship. If I asked for yours, would you give it?â Sanya strongly suspected not.
They looked up at him, keeping their face in the practiced calculation theyâd learned from their uncle. âLook, I get that youâre trying to take care of a situation and follow things to a conclusion, but why should I trust you--you specifically--when I have others of the same allegiance who have built up trust. You may think youâre important, but power and trust are not the same. I imagine you tell most people theyâre smart not to trust you. Why should I be any different?â
cassius or vic?
âIf Iâm taking care of a body, Cass. Otherwise, it will always be Vic.â
Antonin or Katsia
âI love Katsia dearly, but Antonin is my blood.â
Obliviate || Maura
mauramulciberâ:
âDo you wanna know what Hufflepuffs are known for?â Maura asked, feeling proud of her house as she gave Sanya a wink, encouraged by the way they were responding to her advice. âWeâre hardworking, which means that no matter how long it takes, we get where weâre going in the end.â
Laughing in surprise at Sanya comment, Maura watched their wand slide between their fingers before humming. âI donât want you to obliviate me, either.â Not that she thought Sanya would - or perhaps the proper word was âcouldâ. Tipping her head to one side, Maura smiled slowly, almost innocently as she offered, âWanna go find a test subject?â
Sanya had heard a few jokes at the expense of Hufflepuffs, but even if theyâd wanted to, they didnât remember them well enough to actually repeat any. âHardworking, hm?â It didnât have the lofty appeal theyâd often heard of Slytherins and their obsessive arrogance, but Sanya thought it sounded like a more practical trait to develop. It suited Maura well.
A smile slowly spread across Sanyaâs face, and they nodded. They knew there was a reason they liked Cassâ sister. She came off so pure and bubbly, but deep down, she was hiding that same proclivity for violence in her own special way. âThat sounds fantastic. Muggle? Iâm sure we could find one leaving a bar alone that no one would miss for an hour or two.â

âYes we are,â he said simply, frowning when they so rudely ignored his offered hand. âSo if you could take my hand please-â
Then they were grabbing his arm and there was a nauseating pull in his stomach, and suddenly they were standing in a dingy little hotel room while Sanya snapped at him.Â
He looked at their surroundings with distaste, and then at the younger Dolohov who took them there. âI had rather different surroundings in mind. Are you always so jumpy?â
He flicked his wand at the door and heard the lock click shut, then returning to giving her a withering look. By the decor they were definitely somewhere wizarding, and when he strode over to the window and glanced out he realized they were in the Leaky Cauldron.Â
Ugh. He felt like he needed a shower just standing in this establishment.
âPerhaps it was a little dramatic, but it was fun, no?â he said, throwing them a cocky smile. âNow, hand me your wand. Priori Incantatum will tell us everything we need to know about whether or not you killed that muggle.â
He held out his hand.
Sanya felt smug as they watched his momentary lapse in that perfect control that Rodolphus suffered, even if he managed to hide it away quickly.Â
âIf Iâm jumpy, itâs only because I woke up and was immediately harassed by you for trying to come up with a reasonable escape plan. I should have just gotten away on my own. It would be easier than all...â They waved their hand in his direction. âThis.â
They fell into a chair, sprawling across it as they considered where to begin. Handing him their wand wasnât it. âNo offense, but I donât trust you enough for that. Youâre not touching my wand. I have friends, people I trust. Those are the people I will be going to for that kind of spellwork, not you.â
Obliviate || Maura
mauramulciberâ:
âSometimes.â Maura admitted with a smile, well aware that most people didnât think of her as a girl that got angry much - and usually when she was, it was her sibling that caused it. Anger for Maura was something swift and shining, lightning striking and destroying before going away like it had never been there at all.
âYour aunt and uncle, theyâre pretty big, important people, right? They have a lot of expectations, right? I guess I just⌠I donât want to let my family down. I canât fail. I donât want to fail, and Iâm not about to let people think that Iâm some helpless, useless little girl. Itâs just not going to happen, so I stopped thinking of failure as an option because thatâs not the person I want to be. I guess⌠Iâm just stubborn. I keep going until I get it right and my magic gets the hint that it has to do what I want. Itâs like⌠when weâre kids, we have accidental magic, right? But then we go to school and we learn and we stop having that. This is just like that. We donât keep our accidental magic and Iâm not going to have faulty spellwork. Iâm not going to settle for it.â
Sanya nodded. Of course they were important. Theyâd done everything in their power to make themselves as perfect and untouchable as possible. They had to in order to keep a reputation around here.Â
Sanya didnât want to admit that the idea of being unable to disappoint people was something they could relate to. They tried to hide the rickety moments, the instability. That required the very stubbornness Maura was talking about. âI like that,â Sanya said. âNot settling is good.â They rolled their fingers around their wand as they thought about how to make that work. âHow do you typically practice a spell like this? I donât want to Obliviate you.â
