Sinnoh is apparently the first region to exist. In a void of nothingness, the first Pokemon, Arceus, gives Dialga and Palkia the power to control time and space while banishing Giratina to another dimension for its violent behavior. Mew is thought to have come into being by itself, containing the DNA of all Pokemon. Unova is far away from other places, being a mixture of rural and urban areas. It forms when twin heroes unite warring people by using a dragon that splits into Zekrom and Reshiram since a brother seeks truth while the other seeks ideals. Kalos is also so far away from other areas that it requires an airplane to get to. Xerneas releases life energy while Yveltal absorbs it throughout this region. Alola is a popular resort destination that attracts tourists from other places. Instead of gym leaders, there are trial captains and island kahunas. Due to the unique environmental pressures, a number of species that appear in the region do not look similar to and have different types than others that are elsewhere.
