I am hesitant to call this a "review", because such words carries authority, and, requires quite a bit of technical knowledge--of which I have neither.

But, I am someone who deeply appreciates most of the things Apple makes. To the extent that I can justify their prices (although with a healthy dose of apprehension)--and besides, I use most of my Apple products, specifically my computer set-up, as a tool to get work done; and as with any tool, it should have a clear ROI.

Most of my work involves Word, Excel, Photoshop, and some Figma. Can tasks of all of these applications be done on a 4K monitor? Sure, they can even be done on the built-in 14" screen of my laptop. But plug a 5K display in, and suddenly everything is clearer.

I am going to note here, that 4K vs 5K is not just 1K more pixels. It is in fact almost double the pixels. 4K = 9,437,184 pixels. 5K = a whopping 14,745,600 pixels!

With a 5K display I have more room, and text is almost as sharp asa printed screen (218ppi). Again this isn't necessary, but neither is a comfortable chair. It's simply that, "comfortable". There's a certain joy that comes with using a monitor that has the clarity of an iPhone or iPad or MacBook. It can make long grueling days a bit more enjoyable, and, if it inspires me to even spend 3 extra hours a week at my desk doing work, that equals ~$8000 dollars more in income per year--which means I'd break even after about 10 weeks of owning and using the monitor!
