Mateo sat and listened to his brother knowing most the time he was right about things and was usually a good talk to about these type of things. “I know,  I think I’m more nervous about the meeting and knowing who she is.. Does she comeback to Mexico do I have to go there?” he asked never really thinking about it until now, not even sure his brother would know. Overthinking all ready Mateo pulled at his ear before pouring another shot

“Uhm, well...” Diego started, having not given his brother’s future marriage all that much thought. He felt a small tinge of guilt at that, he’d just been consumed with his own shit. “She doesn’t have any older siblings, does she? You might.. be moving to Colombia. Unless you guys decide to like.. split your time between the two...” he admitted. “But hey, seriously don’t worry about meeting her and all of that. I doubt our parents would set you up with someone awful- you are the baby, after all.”

Well, you couldn’t get much more informal than a pair of cut off pajama shorts, an old high school sweater, and— shit. Reaching up with a quick hand Katya yanked the glasses from her face and tucked them out of sight behind her back. Lesson number two of the day had just become remembering to put in her contacts before breakfast. “No, no! Don’t leave.” It all rushed out of her mouth before a smile could even curve along her lips, but when one did it revealed the truth… she was caught off guard by his arrival, and clearly at less than her best, but she was happy to see him. Hazel hues, more green than brown that afternoon, lingered on Diego’s face as Katya tipped her head. “I’m glad you came… really.” There was something to be said about the fact that he’d not only remembered his promise but actually followed through. “What did you have in mind?”

“Okay,” Diego agreed to stay, a small smirk playing across his lips. He wasn’t sure why she had rushed to take off her glasses, considering it was his own fault he’d caught her off guard, but it just amused him. casually he walked over and sat on the edge of her bed, as if it wasn’t the first time he’d done so. “I was thinking about doing some sight seeing,” he told her with a smile, “get out of here for a bit. Unless you’d rather stay in?”

“A Queen is never late, everyone else is simply early,” she replied as if the words came naturally and without a thought to the woman. Accompanied by a small grin, she made her way to Diego and sat beside him before taking the bottle from him. “Do you want me to spray it on you too?” the blonde teased, glancing over at him with a grin. With that, she popped the bottle away from the two of them before pouring a pair of glasses. 

“Wow, you’re so wise,” Diego teased back sarcastically. If only that were actually true (for princes and kings as well), considering he had a habit of showing up to things ‘fashionably late’ and getting chastised for it. “only if you’re gonna lick it off me,” he returned with a wry smile, clinking his glass against hers after she poured for the pair of them. “I have to ask, does getting married mean no more spontaneous vacations?”

Sighing Mateo nodded his head “I wish we didn’t have to do this but I guess there is nothing we can do about it so no point in fighting”he shrugged “Russian huh? thats pretty cool, nope not yet I’m kind of nervous honestly

“No point stressing it, really,” Diego told his brother, frowning slightly when he mentioned being nervous. He understood that feeling himself, and to be honest he was currently teetering between being annoyed by everything that has to do with the Summit and marriage, and just trying to make the best of it. “Look,  I know it seems like a big deal, and it kind of is, but just try to get along with her. It sucks sometimes, but it just comes with the territory.”

“Wow, is that a great way to greet a new possible family member of yours?” Artem asked rolling his eyes slightly as he glanced over at the other with the bottle of tequila. Another drinker? Katya didn’t need that in her life. “You know, instead of drinking why don’t you go out and actually do something with your life for once.” 

“It’s as good a way as any,” Diego shrugged in return, glancing up to see the younger boy looking at him with judgment. “Do something with my life? Seriously? I’m going to be running a country in a few years,” he pointed out with a scoff before downing a shot defiantly. 

“Sounds wise, honestly.” Caitlin chuckled, “I feel I arrived too late for that option.” She sighed, “Don’t want any celebrations starting without me.”

“Yeah well, can’t help you then,” he told her. “Guess you’ll just have to suffer without sleep for a while.”

With a twist of the handle she threw her door open and instantly froze. If there was one person Katya wasn’t expecting to show up at her room that afternoon it was Diego. Maybe that’s why she didn’t even think twice about answering the knock without glancing into a mirror first. Random curls sprouted out of the careless knot at the top of her head, an old sweater dipped low off one shoulder, and her full lips seemed unable to close as she blinked back at him in shock. While part of her was excited to see him the other part really wished she would’ve found her brush. “Hey,” she finally greeted with a quiet laugh as her stare turned somewhat worried. “I didn’t— I didn’t forget we had plans did I?” After drinking herself stupid at the bar with Rose the night before she wouldn’t have been too surprised. It wouldn’t have been the first time she’d forgotten something important after six too many glasses of champagne. Then, realizing he was still standing in the middle of the hall, she scuffed bare feet back across the carpeted floor and gestured inside. “Sorry, sorry. Come on in.” Pushing at the glasses that perched across her nose she cast a hasty glance around the room, praying that it wasn’t covered in day old dresses and last night’s underwear. 

Diego looked up as the door opened, looking quite amused as Katya stood there staring at him. “Hey..” She was a bit more surprised than he’d expected, and for a second he wondered if he was being rude by not texting her first. “No, no official plans, don’t worry,” he shrugged, shoving his hands in his jacket pockets as he continued to stand outside her door. After a moment she invited him inside and he followed her, taking a quick glance around the room. “We, uh.. talked about hanging out away from all the formal shit..” he started, “thought maybe you might wanna do that today. I can come back, though...” he added as an afterthought, running a hand through his hair.
