I've been a bit inactive , I've been studying a lot both for some last exams to do (I miss one !!! at the end of the month!! then I am "free" for August) , but also for the comic I'll make about the roman kingdom , I got a main skeleton of events and I'm working on some character sheets to make my life easier when August comes and I post the first pages I have a question:

Like typical humans, my countryhumans (or as I like to call them as Representatives) do speak at least two or three languages, their native language and the lingua franca like English or French or even other languages they have to learn depending on regions and time periods. By default, they communicate using said lingua franca language, so there are typically no issues of language barrier here, unless a CH has been isolated and didn’t really get to learn other languages much other than their own, then that is a whole other can of worms.

And it is not always easy when it comes to learning process! By the time lingua franca shifted, they have to learn yet another language which at their age, it is not as smooth as when they were younger! For example, many European countries when speaking English may revert back to French or even their native languages, so, yes, it is ultimately depending on time and places. Usually the countries have official languages , so of course they can speak those , then there is percentages of others and those percentages is how much of each language one can speak

I also base it on history, for example celtic and germanic tribes being romanized so they learn Latin, or colonies learning the language of the conqueror

An other thing to take into consideration is also the languages taught in school, for example in Italy the languages can vary , but English is always present , then there is also French, German and Spanish in some cases , it kind of resembles the past of being colonized , but it is mostly for the closeness to the other countries

In the case of Italy there is also the "dialects" that aren't really dialects but separate languages born from Latin , like Venitian, Napolitan, Sicilian , Sardinian ...all languages ! It shows the history of Italy being very divided before unification

I want to give some more countries specific roles/hobbies, like Haiti (scientist/engineer), South Korea (engineer) and Switzerland & CAR (doctor+also doctor), so does anyone have any fun ideas for countries who would fit any roles as well? The roster of countries I use frequently is pretty small, and I have been looking to expand. I also just love the idea of giving countries hobbies or jobs in-Complex in general.

Some other countries have hobbies as well that I've just never mentioned before. Like Canada, America, Japan, Finland and Russia who all wear skates in their winter designs. America also owns a guitar which I have depicted him with a few times. (which I need to redesign)
