Brazil!

So I just got back from my first trip to the windsurfing mecca Jericoacoara in Brazil and it was everything I could have expected!

I flew from London to Sao Paulo then onto Fortaleza where i faced a 5 hour car ride onto Jeri. It felt like driving across mars going through the natural park that surrounds the town of Jeri. My first morning there I woke up to howling winds and gleaming sunshine and it pretty much stayed like that for 8 weeks!

It really is an amazing place to be, all of the roads are made of sand, there isnt even an ATM, which sounds quaint but actually turned out to be really annoying! The place is actually pretty cheap to live though, nights out are usually a trip down to the rum carts on the beach where the guys dish out the caiprinhas all night til everyone clears off to the samba or one of the other nights during the week.

It was really cool to sail in some waves for the first time and try some moves that i'd never tried before! I got pretty close to some backloops and learned to kono in regular as well.

We did a 5 day trip to the freestyle paradise of Camocim about 2 hours down the road, its a rivermouth and is super flat so perfect for all the switch moves. It was definitely the highlight of the trip, meeting some of the pro and local guys there was a lot of fun!

Jeri is also a place which can be enjoyed by non windsurfers. At high tide its perfect for paddle boarding and surfing and as the waves aren't very powerful, its a perfect place to learn. Its such a beautiful place to be as well so if you're looking for scenery and nice sunsets, this is the place.

I can't wait to go back again next year! Stay tuned for my video from the trip which I will put up in a couple of days.
