the ship was sailing smoothly thus far on calm seas. the air was fresh, mixed with the smell salt and liquor from the many barrels kept aboard, some closed, some opened and empty. all around men were shouting orders and responding with matched energy, but overall the crew was in high moral. it wasn’t often they had a beautiful woman aboard joining in on their adventure. for some, she was quite the distraction, earning them a scolding from the ship’s first mate, who, much like the captain himself, insisted on running a tight ship. the majority of the crew, however, kept to their jobs, working harder than ever in hopes of gaining her attention and perhaps even her affection. both, however, it seemed was given to their captain, jinpachi nezu.

there here stood, a strong, loud, intimidating figure at the helm, however, there was a fun and carefree air about him, the same that spread throughout the ship. more than anything he was a free spirit. an inspiration to the men in his crew. it was his overall command that kept the ship afloat. he was a natural and seemed to enjoy it, only that much more now that his ship was graced by a beautiful passenger. just like with the crew, jinpachi found himself encouraged to work harder, despite her being a pleasant distraction, even when hiding…

he spotted her from across the ship. he could always see her. sparkling in the sunlight, or glowing by the moon, his eyes always found her. what a pleasure it was to be watched by such dazzling eyes, it gave him all the more reason to go all out.

❝ ryo, the helm! ❞ jinpachi calls out. removing himself from the wheel. he unties a rope which held up the two smaller sails of his ship. jumping onto and then off the banister behind the helm, using the rope he swung just around the outside of the ship, and as he did so, both smaller sails dropped down, moving the ship forward with great speed. releasing the ropes, he landed, his feet planted firmly on the hull.

❝ look alive, gents! just cause we’ve got a woman on board doesn’t mean i’ll allow slackers! ❞ the crew responds in unison with ‘aye captain’. ❝ now, what do you say we show this little beauty why we’re the most feared out on these waters !! ❞ with that there is a resounding cheer, hands pounding and feet stomping against the wood, before the crew quickly returns their work.
