When I tell ppl I have "chronic neurological Lyme disease" and they look at me like I'm batshit crazy and say things like "lyme is only joint pain" or "isn't that just treated with antibiotics" 😾😾😾😾 there's wayyyy too much ignorance surrounding a disease that mimics virtually Every known condition and has the ability to completely destroy the human body!!!! 😑these are the symptoms I deal with on a daily basis and have been dealing with for a very long time. Once Lyme gets to the Chronic and/or neurological stage it can be very challenging and very very long to treat. I don't like to complain or post about my symptoms a lot but this is what Lyme disease does to people✨

•I often feel like treating Lyme resembles waking up one day in a dark basement with no windows or doors to the outside world. It is only u here in a completely different universe set away from the reality of what life should be like. There is only one set of stairs out that takes days, months or even years to find among the abyss of pure hopelessness and misery... u finally find these stairs and manage to pull yourself up to the ground floor where there is decent lighting and a glimpse of outside life and hope. U start to breathe again, u start to relax...but wait..there is still another ceiling above u..? another boundary blocking u and taunting u making u realize ur still not outside. U see the light but u can't feel it, can't touch it, can't go out and enjoy it...Ur not there yet u realize and keep climbing. Only when you think you've reached the top of that ceiling, the momentum stops and suddenly, in the blink of an eye, ur back in the basement with the lights off surrounded by nothing but darkness again. Back to the abyss. Back to the hopelessness. Back to the days filled with searching for that ONE staircase to bring u back up to the light...There will always be a ceiling. There will always be a climb. It will always be just u in the dark basement with no windows...Others will reach out for u but it's never enough. They can't break through the boundary, they can't take the darkness away. There is no way to let the light into the basement. U are sealed off away from the world..away from the living, away from the hope. The ceiling is always there. The boundary never goes away.. It never goes away•
