today was the second time we worked with self recorded samples. Max aka. Murks Kna volunteered to record some sounds while home during christmas holidays. Additionally we used a guitar sample that Camufingo recorded. You’ll find all the given sounds for sampling in the playlist this time. With  “Piccadilly Sweet” from  Ekseption 00.04 (1971) , Daniel aka. Soulrock chose a great sample that everyone seemed to be happy to work with. Ekseption is a classical music rockband from the netherlands who had their first sucess in the 70ies and despite constantly changing it’s band members stayed active and released Albums until very recently. ...more Thanks Daniel for picking this one! Oh and for those who say “wait a minute, 14 beats but 16 beatmakers?” Yes, 2 beats were played live and not recorded this time.

Impressions of Sample Science #31

We started our first little online challenge in may. Directed at those people who are usually not in Berlin or are not able to come for some reason but still want to participate. While a few guys were quick send in their beat, most of them sent it at the lastest minute! Anyway here they are! The samples were taken from the NASA’s soundcloud profile and are recordings of interstellar sounds and rocket launches and so forth.

07.06.2015 in Berlin Kreuzberg Last weekend the summer hit Berliners like a shock! Everyone was happy and complaining at the same time how hot it is, though others complained just the week before that the summer will never come! So most of our regular beatmakers probably preferred to hit the Biergarten instead of their MASCHINE keys. But J Lamotta & the 7 the beatmakers showed up and did their thing including Amewu, Brother Luis, Camufingo, Liphe and Volker Nabis aka Flowbeats.  “Rasmus!” and “CHiLL ILL” from Austria joined for the first time. DJ Werd sent us the sample, that he recorded himself playing a little red toy piano. Here are the 8 Tracks of Smple Science #30 for your enjoyment!

The Sample last nights sample was picked for us by Radio Host and DJ André Langenfeld. He said he chose Ben E. Kings “Family Jewels” from the Album “Let me live in your life” because according to http://www.whosampled.com/ it has never been sampled before although he finds it so obviously sample worthy! Andrè chose this sample a few weeks ago and just recently discovered that Ben E. King is just deceased. He is probably most famous for the Song “Stand by Me” that he sang and co-composed. Rest In Peace Mr. King. Let us see the beats that have been produced last night as honoring of his life dedicated to music! And thanks for Andrè for picking it out for us!
