Progressing Slowly
Jerry is progressing slowly. Physical therapists have been coming to the house every other day. He calls them his torturers, but not of course, to their faces. His movement has improved a lot, though. They are trying to make sure the scar tissue doesn't form so that it prevents the full bending of his knee. So, they help him do stretching exercises, which is sometimes painful. The last one came Friday and now he will have to do outpatient physical therapy at Kaiser Lafayette.
Jerry walks with a walker and can get up and down the stairs with a cane. He can now manage to get into and out of the shower and he can get into the car, by sliding into the rear seat (with difficulty). Mostly, he is exhausted. Sleeping is difficult. He has lost a lot of weight but is eating more now.
Monday, we go to the cancer center in Lafayette (30 mins away) to find about beginning the radiation treatments. I am so glad that we don't have to go all the way to Denver. I am also hoping that they will allow him to get the treatments in the afternoon.
