Thats like me kidnapping my nephew (I have like, four but the one that is the most dear to my nerdy heart is always down for shenanigans) dressing him up as Darth Maul or Vader and dressing up as a Jedi and just taking him random places and having lightsaber fights.
He's 5.
I am officially the coolest person he knows and he brags about having lightsaber fights in the MacDonalds car park to all his friends.
If my sister and her wife ever become moms, this is the kind of aunt I want to be <3
Being an aunt is honestly the best, you can get into all kinds of shenanigans and no one can tell you no because your looking after the younglings! Its enrichment! Its fun!
My current mission is finding mini inflatable dinosaur suits so we can have dinosaur races at the local park.
You should play the Juarassic Park music while doing this :D
In honour of Sam Niel, im going to get the loudest speakers i can find and just blast the soundtrack and shout "THEY DO MOVE IN HERDS!"

Jeanne Gibson, aka Rosie the Riveter, died July 29th 2026
It is with profound sorrow that we bid farewell to Jeanne Gibson, our beloved Rosie the Riveter, has passed away today, July 29, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100. With her passing, we don't simply mourn the loss of a beloved friend, we honor the life of an American hero whose courage, dedication, and unwavering spirit helped shape history, and will continue to inspire generations to come. At just 18 years old, Jeanne left her home in Minnesota in the summer of 1944 and answered her nation's call, becoming a welder at Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle. With determination and grit, she helped build destroyers that strengthened the Allied war effort during World War II. She later continued her service with the Army Transportation Corps in Juneau, Alaska, embodying the resilience and patriotism of the Greatest Generation. Yet Jeanne's legacy extended far beyond the war. She earned her Ph.D., dedicated three decades to teaching, earned her private pilot license, and spent the rest of her life proving that courage, determination, and purpose know no age. In 2024, Jeanne and her fellow Rosies were collectively awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, one of our nation's highest civilian honors, recognizing the extraordinary women whose sacrifices and determination helped secure victory during World War II. To all of us at Pacific Historic Parks, Jeanne was far more than a Rosie, she was family. She traveled to Hawaiʻi time and again to share her remarkable story with visitors, inspire local students, and ensure that the sacrifices of the Home Front would never be forgotten. Her radiant smile, generous heart, and boundless enthusiasm touched every life she encountered. She had a special gift for encouraging young girls, reminding them that no dream was too big and no obstacle too great. Through her words and her example, she inspired generations to believe in themselves and pursue lives of courage, service, and purpose. Jeanne remained a tireless advocate for preserving the legacy of the Rosies, volunteering at Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park on "Rosie Fridays" and ensuring the stories of the women who helped win the war would continue to inspire future generations. In one of life's poignant moments, just days before her passing, Jeanne was celebrated with a Wall of Honor banner at the park she loved so dearly and recognized during a San Jose Earthquakes halftime ceremony honoring Bay Area heroes. It was a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was defined by selfless service, quiet strength, and extraordinary grace. Though Jeanne has taken her final flight, her legacy will never fade. It lives on in every story she shared, every young person she inspired, every life she touched, and in the enduring example of courage she leaves behind. Our hearts are with Jeanne's family, her fellow Rosies, and all who were blessed to know and love her. Rest in peace, Jeanne Gibson.

Jeanne Gibson, who represented the WWII Rosie the Riveter movement, died Thursday.
Jeanne Gibson, who represented the “Rosie the Riveter” campaign during World War II, died Thursday at age 100.
Pacific Historic Parks announced her death in a social media post the same day.
“Our thoughts are with all who knew and loved Jeanne, especially her fellow Rosies and the many friends whose lives she touched,” the Facebook post read.
In 1944, when she was just 18-years-old, Jeanne left her Minnesota home to go and work as a welder in Seattle, helping build destroyers for the war effort.
She often traveled to Hawaii to share her experiences and participate in commemorative events at the Pearl Harbor Memorial with Pacific Historic Parks.
“Her warmth, encouragement, and enthusiasm made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of meeting her,” Pacific Historic Parks wrote. “She especially loved encouraging young girls to pursue their dreams and reminding them that they could achieve whatever they set their minds to.”
Gibson and her follow Rosies were collectively awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2024 to recognize their contributions to the war effort.
Finding out AI companies are chewing through - literally, they’re pulping and burning them as they go - millions of books often including 1/1s and old texts that cannot be reprinted
Meanwhile there’s always some dipshit telling me AI is the future and we’ve got to just let companies erase human history and literature so they can train their abomination machines to pretend to think like people because a judge said it’s fine
AI companies are buying and scanning printed books for training data, raising copyright and cultural preservation concerns as rare volumes a
This is a crime against humanity

The right love to act that we're all just Easily Triggered Snowflakes Looking For Reasons to get offended but like
No
It's really just this simple?
Like
When someone ignorantly deadnames you you just go "No, this my name now" and they can just go "Oh shit my bad" and you can move the fuck on
And like this scene was literally written by two trans women and acted by a trans actor
We really are perfectly capable of just being fucking rational
RIght wingers on the other hand are batshit insane lunatics ready to declare a holy war in the name of their Sky Daddy every time they see a rainbow sticker on a Big Mac
So I don't think its us who are the easily triggered snowflakes XD
Also I love the actor playing Bug just going Full Jack Nicholson with it XD
And he's not wrong about the fact Jamie Clayton is a fuckin FOX <3
No idea what this show is about but I love the guy with the van’s energy
Sense8 is a sci-fi drama/thriller about a group of people who find themselves sharing a kind of psychic group-mind (Known as a Cluster) with each other where they can both experience things happening to each other/communicate with each other over vast distances psychcially and also psychcially share skills with each other (So for instance, Nomi here is a brilliant hacker and so any of those who are part of the Cluster can also access those hacking skills)
But in addition to the things going on in their own lives, the Cluster also learns that this connection means they're being hunted by a dangerous and powerful organisation and specifically a cold blooded monster by the name of Whispers with sinister intentions for people who have these abilities
It's really neat!
It's also HELLA QUEER and incredibly sexy :D
I feel like tumblr should be bigger fans of The Blues Brothers. It's a movie that has everything we value as a community. Attention and respect to pioneering black musicians, open hostility to nazis, open defiance to police, Carrie Fisher with a rocket launcher and flamethrower, a soundtrack that goes hard as hell, John Belushi so blasted on cocaine that he continues to do somersaults despite having a broken ankle. It's got it all!
Frank Oz is the jail's discharge clerk when Belushi gets out of jail at the beginning.
Not getting into ending spoilers but Steven Spielberg plays a character who is pivotal to the climax of the film.
Ray Charles fires a warning shot from a pistol at a shoplifter.
They did location filming in a mall that had closed the previous year in 1978. The production fucked that mall up so bad that it remained abandoned until it was finally demolished in 2012.
A total of 60 cop cars are fucking destroyed in the movie.
It’s got Aretha Franklin as a sarcastic diner owner with her own back-up dancers. Chaka Khan is a soloist in the choir. And the whole scene set to Cab Calloway’s Minnie the Moocher is so spectacular I won’t ruin it for you.
It holds the record for most cars destroyed in a film. Not sure if it was ever broken but yeah, most cars or most police cars ever wrecked. It deserves an award just for that frankly.

i feel like a big part of the appeal of dungeon crawler carl is that it is fundamentally a story where a man is told "through complex legal and technological processes we have completely fucked over the lives of you and everyone you care about to enrich ourselves" to which the man asks "what if i killed you with bombs" and it turns out the answer is they forgot that was an option
if you are going to do historical inaccuracy, then go big. Just take it to a whole ‘nother level.
I mean like Knight’s Tale “chanting Queen at the jousting tournament ‘foxy lady’” levels of anachronism. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters with Hansel injecting himself with insulin and Gretel wielding a multiple-shot crossbow levels of anachronism. Go for Blazing Saddles, Blackadder, Jack of All Trades, Connecticut Yankee levels of anachronism
you either have to play by the rules or throw out the book.
Go full on Xena. All of history happened at the same time. Get your legs broken by Caesar and find out Lao Tzu didn’t write that book, his wife did, and she hitting on you…all 10 years before you go meet up with Helen at Troy. Fight with Beowulf and commission Sappho within a few months of each other. Abraham and Issac? Only like 2 years before Jesus. Invent CPR and the kite during the bronze age. Watch your gal pal teach Homer how to be a better bard. Have a fucking battle of the bands in Ancient Greece. TIME IS MEANINGLESS.
