So again thinking about the idea of disconnecting the body (the head from the body, etc) Here I play with the legs, again using the mirror. Calling this piece “pins”, as women’s legs are usually refered to as this when getting complimented or seen in a sexual way, thus in turn objectifying them. Referring to them as an object, etc.

Thinking a lot about how women are objectified, how our bodies are objectified...

“One might simplify this by saying: men act and women appear. Men look at  women. Women watch themselves being looked at. This determines not only most relations between men and women but also the relations of women to themselves. The surveyor of women in herself is male: the surveyed female. Thus she turns herself into an object - and most particularly an object of vision: a sight” - Ways of Seeing, John Berger 

So by using the mirror I become this ‘sight’. By cutting of the rest of my body I become this deformed human like object, the “pins”. I like this idea think I want play with this idea alittle bit more, could play around with different parts of the body. 

Kind of reminds of the Artist Hans Bellmer sculptures. Where he plays around with dismembered pubescent female dolls. Interesting as this is a Male gaze on the Female figure...
