As ADD as I pretend to be, I’m really extremely focused and very proactive. Although, as I always say, hope for everything and expect nothing. There are some specific things that I hope to accomplish in my lifetime. Although my doors are opening to many things, I’m very specific about certain things—the shows I do, for example. I say what I want to do, I schedule it, I make sure that it can happen—that’s just me, doing as much as I can while I can. But that’s not always the case. I’ve met some guys—I don’t want to name names—but people who kind of fell into this a little more. I’ve always wanted to do this. There hasn’t been a day in my life where I haven’t worked towards doing what I’m doing—and I’m very proud of that. But there are people who kind of fell into acting or being a musician at the right time. And as a result, we hear about people having an entourage or agents and managers who will be around them all the time, even if they don’t need to be there. And so I’ll meet people who it seems like they’re—not controlled, per se—but definitely guided by someone else’s agenda. And I think that’s their personal shtick—it depends on who you are and what you’re after. That’s not really my thing. I pride myself on being independent, making my own choices.
