This is not the art post I was expecting to put out this month, but I seen the Vesuvian Pride event and knew I had to pivot, it looked too fun to not participate! This felt like a good opportunity to show off my MC Mara!

I’ve spoken about her a few times here before, but Mara is my Nadia MC(and also my favorite oc,,,) she’s an optimist with a heart of gold and a bad habit of sometimes jumping into things without fully thinking them through. She wears her heart on her sleeve and genuinely just wants what’s best for everyone. She also has a familiar, her cat Nuck, and a service dog not pictured here.

Mara is a lesbian, and (let’s be honest) probably polly too, given the amount of polly ships I have her in lol,, she such a hopeful romantic and I love her for that <3, girl just loves being in love and really who could blame her?

So, I have finally made some art for this event! I chose overstimulation and praise from Day 7! I am only sorry it took so long, I know in lieu of my last post I said it would be a bit until I put out new art due to all sorts of issues, but I was able to put then to rest for the time being. I was super happy this event was happening, I had posted excitedly about it before, and I truly appreciative to the kindness and creativity of the mods behind it! I also hope it is okay I did not include ocs or mcs, I have some, but they are stuck in my mind palace with lore I can’t even follow… so until I figure out here are canon characters. I am glad I was able to at least post on the tail end of this event, but if it is okay, I would love to post more art for the rest or at least some of the other days too! Not sure if I already missed my chance though! (“=w= )

I've been feeling nostalgic lately, so here's my old poly au art

Happy Pride here are some little headcanons that I have for Asra and his gender journey as I like to write him as transmasc <3 (obviously related to my own Daniverse canon with the band)

"Came out" as nonbinary very early to his parents, hence why they aren't surprised when they see him almost 20 years later and still refer to him as their child

I could see them having raised him with very little gender expectations, so they may have always referred to him that way, but probably around the time his magic started to develop was when he adopts it for himself and makes it clear that's how he identifies

However, whatever support they would have offered him growing up is lost when they disappear, and Asra is forced to live on the streets/at the docks, so he has to largely go through puberty unassisted and unhappy

I'd imagine he used glamor spells a lot to change his appearance instead of/in addition to doing things like binding, and maybe the marketplace (or more likely the Red Market) would have magical hormones somehow that he attempted to get his hands on (with varying degrees of success over the years due to luck and cost and everything else)

When the band comes to Vesuvia, Alec and Asra meet when they're about 14, so Asra is very much in the middle of navigating a lot of body changes (as is Alec) and the two of them comparing the way they change is as much a positive experience as it is a negative one - for every change Alec is thrilled by, Asra dreads in himself

However, Leon is a very positive model as someone who has also identified as nonbinary for the majority of their life (though they only recently learned the term) and helps talk some things out with Asra as his body changes

And Camia as the adult woman steps in and helps him deal with the more physical things, like sore bodies from growth, menstruation, new body hair lmao

Asra and Alec have days where they’re trading vocal ranges and the voice cracks go HARD

In my canon it's Jamil who gets Asra in contact with one of his cousins who gives Asra top surgery/magical hormone therapy lol but this could easily apply to the general apprentice canon with their "Aunt" helping Asra instead, as we know the apprentice and Asra knew each other for many years before they died

But he helps get Asra on consistent hormone therapy as soon as he wants, and then when Asra is ready (probably around 20 years old) Jamil brings his cousin to Vesuvia to give Asra top surgery, borrowing a nearby clinic (this is very very pre-Julian, he's not there at all lol)

Since this is fantasy magic, recovery time is practically nonexistent, and he can choose whether to have scars or no, nipples or no - he says yes to both, though his scars are faint, and really only noticeable if you know they're there (Alec is obsessed with them)

Doesn’t get any kind of bottom surgery because he likes having the option to switch things up and magic is advanced LMAO

Getting top surgery was more for comfort and aesthetics which is why that’s his main goal

Once he’s totally healed you will never catch him completely covered up again LOL tiddies are always out and We benefit

Probably still on some kind of maintenance level hormones by game timeline as his body is still going through some changes + the extreme stress from the apprentice dying and everything else afterwards definitely threw his body into whack so he’s getting everything back to normal

Nothing like going through second puberty in your late 20s-early 30s am I right

Personally I do not see him being able to grow much facial/chest hair but his arms and legs and stomach get thick hair growth

Had a few rough years dealing with his voice changing but it settled out by like 20

A lot of his “loud” fashion comes from the insecurity he felt growing up so it was used to distract from the changes he didn’t like, but as he’s grown the fashion feels more natural and uses it to highlight his body instead of hide it
