GUIDEBOOK PREVIEW: THE MARROW ISLES
Twenty miles off the coast of Maine lies the Marrow Isles, a rugged archipelago sustained by the sea for more than three centuries. Commercial fishing remains the lifeblood of the islands, where close-knit communities, weathered traditions, and generations of history have shaped every rocky shoreline. To outsiders, they're a picturesque coastal escape. To those who call them home... they're simply home.
Cape Marrow
The largest and most populous island in the archipelago, Cape Marrow is home to the bustling harbor, commercial docks, and the majority of the islands' residents. From the towering lighthouse overlooking the inlet to the dense evergreen forests inland, life here revolves around the sea, even for those who never step aboard a fishing boat.
Little Marrow
Quiet and close-knit, Little Marrow is known for its small lobster fleet, weather-beaten cottages, and slower pace of life. Many of the island's oldest families still live here, where everyone knows their neighbors and generations of history linger in every weathered porch and stone wall.
Jawbone Reach
Remote, rugged, and breathtakingly scenic, Jawbone Reach is home to only a handful of year-round residents. Its dramatic coastline, dense spruce forests, and quiet hiking trails make it a favorite destination for those looking to escape the bustle of Cape Marrow.
Collarbone Cay
With pale beaches, grassy dunes, and calm surrounding waters, Collarbone Cay has long been the islands' favorite summer getaway. Perfect for kayaking, picnics, bonfires, and beachcombing, it's the kind of place that feels worlds away...despite being only a short boat ride from town.
Knucklebreak Isle
Wild and untamed, Knucklebreak Isle is a place of dense forests, exposed granite, and rugged coastline. There are no permanent residents, no businesses, and no ferry service, only hiking trails, campsites, and some of the most spectacular views in the Marrow Isles.
Skull Point
A protected conservation island, Skull Point is best known for its thriving wildlife and the marine research station that calls it home. School field trips, conservation programs, and seal watching excursions make it one of the archipelago's most fascinating destinations.
CAPE MARROW HAS ALWAYS BELONGED TO THE SEA.
Off the coast of Maine sits an island built on fishing, old families, older superstitions, and waters that don't always behave as they should.
Every few generations, something changes.
The fish come up strange. Whales strand themselves along the beaches. Storms gather without warning. GPS fails. Fishermen glimpse impossible shapes beneath their boats, and otherwise sensible people begin hearing their names whispered from the surf.
Cape Marrow has seen it before.
The problem is that almost nobody remembers.

The sea has been quiet for forty years.
It's getting hungry again.
