Ah, thanks. I’ve just been going through so much this month. My husband had to have emergency open heart surgery for an aortic dissection on New Year’s Eve. It was a 9-hour procedure that we had about 20 minutes to try and understand before they put him under. He spent ten days in the hospital and now that he’s back home, he’s entirely dependent on me while he recovers.

As silly as it sounds, I just felt kind of additionally stressed out every time I thought about the fic, about how I’d just left it hanging right before the end, and about how much trouble that last chapter had been giving me. I hardly ever delete my fics, but this one was just becoming a source of anxiety at a time in my life when i completely lacked the mental energy for it. It just seemed like the simplest, easiest way to handle it was to remove it.

Okey doke, I think I'm happy enough with this to call it a final cut. I'll get the HD version up on my Youtube in a day or two, but wanted to upload the finished version here first. The music is a track from the end of Disco Elysium 'Precinct 41 Major Crime Unit' and I've just been wanting to use it on something for a little while. Maybe one day I'll make another gmv to a song with lyrics. (I've had 30% of Cal video set to Line of Fire by Junip sitting in my projects folder for months now lol)

Anyway, I wanted this video to specifically be about Cal's growing exhaustion with the fight and his sense of alienation from the rest of the Mantis crew, and the way that it presented this sort of perfect storm for Bode to slip right under his defenses. Survivor gives us a Cal who's starving for support and validation, which of course just makes Bode's inevitable turn just cut even deeper. My initial review of Survivor was just a bunch of keysmashing at my bff followed by 'he's just so exquisitely sad 10/10'
