Sayonara, Osaka… Well, all good things will come to an end. The 10-day trip is a much needed break for the three of us, and we made the best out of it. The Market and The Castle. The last day before we fly back home, back in Osaka. We started the day early to head out to Kuromon Ichiba Market. I think we were a bit too early; plenty of stalls were not opened yet, but enough to savour fresh seafood! Headed out straight to Osaka Castle after that. Simply majestic, and a historical icon. The Shrine, The Temple, Starbucks… and the Snow. The last day in Kyoto introduced us to a new element: The snow. It excited us at times. But the cold usually numbed our faces. It was a very exciting day throughout, nevertheless. Started by climbing up Fushimi Inari Taisha, and up to Kiyomizu-Dera. Took a break in a uniquely furnished Starbucks coffee at Ninenzaka. And ended the day walking along Shirakawa River, crossing the Tatsumi Bridge. River Boat Ride and Bamboo Forest. It was a frosty day to go for the Hozugawa River Boat Ride, but it sure was an exhilarating one! The boatmen gave me a chance to row the boat. It may look like a breeze, but it’s a real challenge! The ride ended nicely en route to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, and that was where we spent the rest of the day. Garaging, Palace, Golden Temple, Tower… and Blooming!!! It was just the first day in Kyoto, but so packed with activities. Even the train ride to Kyoto, a ‘zen’ train ride. And then off to the Imperial Palace, and Kinkaku-Ji Temple. Ended it with the glimpse of the Kyoto Tower. Oh! Strawberries and Sky Parks. It was a morning rush to head to the strawberry park, but it was well worth it. I’ve never tasted strawberries that sweet and delicious until that morning. Planned to keep some for the rest of the trip. Ended up finishing them. Hahaha! And right after that, off we went to the Umeda Sky Building. Parks, Temples and Deers It was a pretty wet day, but it didn’t dampen our mood (I think Tokyo was down with a heavy snow). The deers in Nara are tame, and are not afraid of us.
