While the tragedy of Apollo and Hyacinthus has been well known among the Greek myths, some tellings reveal that the Athenide, Apollo’s beloved wife, may have been in a polyamory relationship with him and Hyacinthus.
When Hyacinthus was struck and killed by the discus thrown at him by the west wind god Zephyrus, Perseleia Athenide had ruthlessly punished him by chaining him at the very darkest and undiscovered depths of the sea, where he would be cursed to endure the agonizing pain of drowning for eternity while being denied the sweet release of death. A terrifying warning to those who dare to harm the Athenide’s loved ones.
Some say that it is the pained screams of Zephyrus that give the wind its wailing sound, if you listen close enough.
My Athenide au Headcanons
(Probably should have made this my first Athenide post but oh well)
The Athenide’s Domain
Perseleia is the goddess of loyalty, oaths, and promises. As a child of Poseidon, she’s also the goddess of riptides and fountains. She is also the goddess/guardian of demigods, illegitimate offsprings, widows, and outcasts of society.
The Athenide and her Sacred Animals
Perseleia’s sacred animal would be dogs since they’re known for their loyalty to their owners and pacs. Accompanying her were her two divine dogs made from the stars. Some other accounts say she had three dogs, one of them being Argos.
Much like how the gods would spy on mortals through their animals, Perseleia would also spy on humans through the dogs on earth and could shape shift into one herself.
Because she is also a child of the sea, Perseleia must return to it every few months to appease her father Poseidon. While she is way, she entrusts Artemis to care for her dogs.
Sea horses are another sacred animal of Perseleia. Created as a gift to her from her father, sailors would say that if you were to come across them in the sea, it was a sign that your ship was under the Athenide’s protection.
The Athenide’s Weapon
The Athenide often carried a sword and shield. The sword, made from the sharpest of Steele, was a gift from Poseidon. The shield, which bore an olive tree on its crest, a gift from Athena. These weapons were a symbol of her divine strength and status as a guardian goddess, warding off any threats to those under her protection.
The Athenide’s Temple
Her temples were often built near sea shores as homage to her connection to the sea. In the center of the temple was a large fountain with a statue of her holding her sword and shield as a show of diligently protecting those who sought shelter at her temple. Many blue orchids would grow near the sea shores on her temple grounds, becoming her sacred flower.

I love your greek mythology work! Do you have a headcanon for hermes please?
''You run as much as you want but I will always catch you.'' — Hermes.
❝ ⚚ — lady l: thank you very much, anon! Here are Hermes' hcs, I don't know why it took so long to do it but I finally wrote it and I hope you like it! Forgive me for any mistakes and good reading! ❤️
❝tw: obsessive behavior, manipulation, stalking, mention of death, Reader is put in a dangerous situation on purpose, toxic relationships.
❝⚚pairing: yandere!hermes x gender neutral!reader.
Hermes is a very playful and calm god in his obsession. He is not demanding and will not demand that you love him, he does not need your love. All he wants is for you to stay with him and let him adore you completely. Hermes doesn't really care about trying to control you, he prefers to let you roam free for his own interests. Just because he knows you will be his at the end of the day.
He is known for his carefree nature and his ability to adapt to different situations. He values freedom and autonomy, both for himself and others. That's why Hermes won't try to restrict you or force you to stay with him. He wants you to choose him willingly and he knows you will.
Hermes would value your freedom, but at the same time he would subtly manipulate circumstances to ensure that you were always close to him. He would use his ability to travel quickly to appear in the most unexpected places, always keeping a close eye on his darling. You could never escape the god's gaze.
There is no one for you but him, Hermes knows that. He is a god, after all, and he knows you will be his. There's no way you can't be, everything is calculatedly planned so that he gets you in the end. And you will accept everything because it is your place next to him.
Hermes is a stalker, however. He likes to chase and will always be wherever you are, just in disguise. You will never notice the eyes of the god of messengers upon you, shining with what appears to be hidden amusement. The god could use his ability to travel quickly to monitor and control his darling, and his communication skills to maintain constant contact, sometimes in an intimidating manner.
He would not be the controlling type in the traditional sense of a god, but rather a constant observer, always present in your surroundings, discreetly accompanying you in all your activities. His ability to adapt to different situations would make him a master at hiding his true intentions, while maintaining a façade of lightness and friendliness.
Hermes would not necessarily be aggressive, but his constant presence and obsessive desire for his beloved could create an atmosphere of discomfort and insecurity. He could use his communication skills to maintain constant contact, sending messages and gifts in a seemingly innocent manner but with an underlying aura of intimidation.
His gifts and gifts may seem harmless at first, but Hermes wants to make it clear that he will not tolerate being ignored or left in the background. Expensive and magnificent gifts can become body parts of people close to you. He doesn't want to scare you, but he has limited patience.
He's not exactly possessive or jealous because Hermes knows he's the only one for you. The god sees no reason to be jealous when he knows you belong to him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't get jealous. Hermes feels jealous in a very subtle way and you will hardly notice it unless you are very observant.
Hermes would be a master of subtle manipulation, never appearing threatening at first glance, but always ingeniously orchestrating circumstances to keep you close to him. He can put you in dangerous and desperate situations so that he can save you, acting as your hero and savior, without you knowing that it was really his fault.
He would use his communication skills to stay in constant contact, flooding you with messages and calls, creating an underlying aura of intimidation. His communication methods can range from playful to threatening, depending on his mood and your response. Hermes may have a controlled temper, but he can become easily angered if he doesn't get what he wants. And he wants you.
Hermes would love to travel with you, he would take you anywhere you wanted, be it the human world or the gods and mythological creatures, he would take you wherever you wanted in the blink of an eye. Seeing your smile when you visit a place he's always wanted to is the best gift he could ask for.
The god is a born stalker and a master at manipulating you in subtle ways, but he is not overwhelming or possessive. All he wants is you, to have you and if you run, he will catch you. You are his in every sense of the word. Hermes will take good care of you, don't worry, once he has you attached to him, he will make sure you are happy and satisfied with life by his side. It's not like you have a choice.
I like scary Hermes

Twins at the carousel meme but with Pallas and Athena
"is being with me so bad?"
KILL YOURSELF LITERALLY EXPLODE EVERYWHERE HOLY FUCK!!!! FREE HER!!!! GOD!!!
That fucker Bear deserves the human centipede treatment
I want a Percy Jackson spinoff book about a demigod daughter of Hestia or Demeter who’s just obsessed with cooking/baking and the story’s pretty much just Dungeon Meshi where it all just revolves around food
I imagine since she’s Demeter/Hestia’s child, she’s so gifted at cooking that her food always comes out looking so perfect like those Instagram food pics. Her biggest dream is recovering old ancient food recipes and recreating them
Tantalus would hate her lol
When Perseleia was just born, unlike Poseidon who knew what to do since he’s already fathered numerous kids, Athena had no idea what she was doing since she’s never had any kids or even know how to handle a baby.
Like I can just picture Athena awkwardly holding baby Perseleia like a wet dog and looking so confused. Meanwhile Zeus is chuckling since he was the same way with her when she was born from his head.
If the Athenide was in The Odyssey/Epic the Musical, she would have given more spotlight to Argos by rewarding him for waiting for Odysseus and guarding his home while he was gone for 20 years.
This is because in my interpretation, the Athenide’s sacred animals are dogs since they’re known for their loyalty to their owners and pacs. It’s only fitting that man’s best friend would represent the goddess of loyalty herself.
When Argos takes his final breath shortly after Odysseus walks off, his soul is gently cradled by the Athenide.
“For you, my dear Argos. As reward for your unwavering loyalty to your master Odysseus’ wish in guarding his family and castle, you shall be reborn as one of my divine dogs of loyalty and walk by my side among the stars and gods.”
The Athenide then reaches out a hand, collecting a small handful of stars from the sky, to create a new eternal body for Argos’ soul, returning him to his once youthful and energetic state, now forever immortal and strong. Perseleia was so touched by Argos’ endurance, that this was her way of honoring him.
From that day since the Athenide now walks with three dogs among her side, the third being the once faithful dog of Ithica’s king. Now a divine being who stands as a testimony of faith.
I’m so mad Argos was never mentioned or got a song about him in Epic. He deserves recognition goddammit!!
"Argos waits for the Athenide after her death-" No!
Puppy dog goes looking for his girl. Argos has spent almost his entire mortal life waiting for someone to come home; now that he's immortal and now that his boy and his boy's son are grown and gone, Argos can leave to search for his Lady!
Argos finds a lot of things over the years. Most of them are rather nice, but not his Lady-nice. Some of them are really bad, and Argos bites! But some of them are little boys and girls that smell like gods, and his Lady loved those the most, so Argos takes them back to his Lady's home.
Guide to Camp! Argos
Poseidon won't be happy that Paul/Odysseus is Percy's father…wait, does that mean Estelle is Telemachus?
Paul being a reincarnation of Odysseus would be so funny cuz it means Ody cucked Poseidon again by stealing his woman this time. Odysseus will always get on Poseidon’s nerves in every life lol

My hot take on the design of Neal Illustrator’s Athenide is that she has Athena’s face and Poseidon’s hair (her eyes are a mix of both).
When she was in her teens and had her hair cut short, she bore such an uncanny resemblance to young Poseidon, which was only made more uncanny when she tried on his old chiton. To Poseidon and his siblings, it was sweet but also brought back some rather uncomfortable memories of when they were younger and living under Kronos’ thumb.
Perseleia acted a lot like a younger Poseidon before he had lost his arm and was forced to quickly grow up in order to survive.
Why does Play Dead by Bjork fit the Athenide so well
The Athenide having her own Goddess Girls book would be so cute ❤️
(Those books were my childhood)
Disney’s Hercules Athenide would probably just get the same treatment as the other gods in being a random background character with no speaking role but is more prominent in the spinoff tv show
She’d be a total momma’s girl for Athena. Hades just calls her the little fountain brat after one of her dogs bit him
Some Greek poets say that when the Athenide had to return to the sea for the first time, she became so heartbroken at having to leave her dogs behind that she never stopped crying.
Poseidon hated seeing his precious daughter so distraught, so he tried creating a sea animal close to a dog to appease her. This led to the creation of sea horses, becoming the Athenide’s second sacred animal.

I can see a young Perseleia wanting to be wise and collected like her mom Athena, but unfortunately inherited her dad’s (Poseidon) short temper and infamous rage
Since we’re on the topic of the Athenide in Epic the Musical, I’d love to see what she’d look like in Neal the Illustrator’s art style and how she’d be characterized in her Famtheon comics.
