I’ve been curled up in bed all day, half regressed.

My little side has just been inconsolable. I’m having trouble mustering up words of comfort. How do you explain to your inner child that someone is just gone? Especially when you hardly got the chance to know the person you’re grieving?

I latched onto Valko hard. To be fair, I’m gonna stay latched. Here’s some CG headcanons:

Valko adores picking you up and throwing you around like an uncle would to their niece/nephew. Your delighted giggles would make him so happy.

Valko plays lots of games with you. Anything from Mario Kart to Minecraft to anything else, he loves watching your furrowed brow as you focus on winning (he lets you win every time).

Valko has a lot of experience with pups, given his pack. He would be able to handle a regressor of any age with ease.

Valko can’t help but get little trinkets for you, just to see you smile.

Valko takes you camping frequently, and loves teaching you about nature. At night, he’ll lay with you to watch the stars.

Valko really likes to narrate stories using your stuffed animals. Little Red Riding Hood is one of his favorites.

Today, I encourage you to talk to yourself kindly.

Especially when you feel small. Especially when it feels difficult. Your inner voice is so powerful and you deserve to be kind to yourself, even when the world is not (especially when the world is not)…

If you make a mistake, speak as you would to a beloved friend. When you feel overwhelmed, say something gentle to yourself. Some examples:

✧ “I’m trying my best. My best is good enough.”

✧ “It’s more than okay to rest. I deserve to rest.”

✧ “I am not broken; I’m simply in need of care.”

If your thoughts became sharp, I would sit beside you and offer some words of wisdom of my own if you wanted it: “You would never scold a flower for drooping in heavy rain. Do not scold yourself for needing extra nurturing and care sometimes.”

You are allowed to feel. You are allowed to make mistakes. You are still deserving of compassion.
