saki, whom definitely wasn’t pacing to contain her excitement, jumps at the doorbell. she practically thunders down the stairs to grab it before her mother does- oh yeah. “hey mom it’s probably my friend! you haven’t met them before.” she smiles. then adds, “they’re a boy i think so don’t freak out.” she isn’t quite sure why she would, but the way kotaro phrased it implies that she might, so she adds it anyway. (tenmama walks away, muttering about extra dinner portions and snacks).

she swings the door open, breaking out into a smile. the smell of coffee hits her immediately despite the evening air, choosing not to comment on kotaro’s messier demeanour; as if she’s any better. she’s wearing a white t-shirt and jeans, both of which are absolutely littered with various colours of nail polish. her t-shirt used to actually be a freebie piece of merch that she got at a more more jump! concert, a low quality, faded image of haruka in the middle, but if it showed off her airi bias a little too much, she wasn’t too concerned. her hair was now in a messy-ish bun, straying from her usual choice of pigtails.

"Pardon the intrusion," he says habitually as he steps into the Tenma home. He's rather obvious with the way he looks around at the decor and architecture. So different from his own house—very European. Very...big! The Shinonome home was pretty big too, but the ceilings weren't nearly as high. Even so, the classy feeling is less overbearing. All the decorations and keepsakes kept in the open gave it a lived in feel that makes his shoulders relax. No wonder Toya likes being here more than his stifling home environment. Kotaro likes his own house just fine, with its elaborate wooden ceilings and the smell of tatami.

her eyes widen a little, quickly jumping to correct them. “no, no! not an intrusion at all! i mean i… invited you, so,” she shrugs. “can’t really be an intrusion if you were invited. unless you’re a vampire, or something.” hey, toya is actually looking really pale lately…

Although outside, all Kotaro does is scoff and roll her eyes with a smile as she steps past her on the stairs, she gets a little flutter in her stomach. Like when a new customer only had seen her from behind and called her over with a "Miss, we're ready to order!" They were always jokes or "mistakes" but nevertheless the fact feminine terms could be used to describe her despite her height and gaunt body type made her feel a glimmer of...hope? That maybe 18 wasn't too late to consider something like...that.

She heads to Saki's room, correctly assuaging which one is hers given the door is open and it's as bright as she is. One wall of entirely glass panes giving way to a balcony and another painted peach in contrast to the other two yellow ones. Stars on the ceiling, a clothesline of Polaroids, a multicolored foam mat—what a cute room that suited her perfectly. It makes her a little envious just how much her room at home lacks customization, but given how many friends Saki has and that she's in a band, she assumes she must have friends over much more often than she does. "Your room is really cute! Your house is really nice in general, actually."

“there’s a box of snacks by my bed,” she gestures behind her vaguely, towards her bed, as she half skips to her closet. “i always keep it there but also i grabbed a few things for today. take your pick! anything that strikes your fancy.”

she opens her closet, kneels down and digs through the box at the bottom, filled with her makeup, hair brushes, clips, and nail polish. she can’t find the nail polish, so she might as well take some stuff out, buuuut…

“sorry, i just have so much stuff,” she waves her hand, then, very deliberately, pulls out her makeup bag. it’s full to the brim and she struggles to zip it closed some days, rattling as saki places it behind her. of course she isn’t gonna force kotaro to wear makeup! but. akito said she’d probably like it, plus following kotaro on stumbler did have its benefits, aside from the nonsense posts that always got a giggle out of her. plus, in saki’s humble opinion, he’d just look objectively good with it on. if he notices? great! if they don’t? fine! saki just hopes the motion wasn't too awkward and noticeable in its deliberateness.

Kotaro notices Saki's makeup bag as they knee-walk back to her little table. Akito and Saki both have hit the nail on the head as they eye the makeup bag and shift around in place curiously. Is Saki planning to totally spruce them up? Like, girly sleepover makeover kind of thing? They've never really done that, for obvious reasons.

“yay!” she squeals. it is true! she really is in the mood… but also she has a sneaking suspicion kotaro would like the excuse to do this. also; akito wants pictures.

perhaps a little too eager.

saki shifts a little from where she’s curled up in her bed (she promptly uncurls because she realises the fetal position is making her feel worse), weighted blanket pulled against her body, but doesn’t make any moves to stand. she’s just so exhausted… in her body, and in her head. she lets out a pathetic whine for no one to hear, before she quickly grabs her phone again just to text ichika;

*Ichika spoke with a hurried, yet gentle voice. Saki would probably not enjoy loud noises right now?*

i love you. can i have some water? thank you for caring so much about me. i feel sick and yucky.

…but nothing comes out. she’s tired and frustrated and feels bad. she hates this. she can’t even bring herself to look ichika in the eye… how sad and pathetic i am.

*Ichika quickly goes downstairs with the glass and refills it, careful not to spill any water in the kitchen. As fast as she can go while still being careful, she brings the glass upstairs and hands it gently to Saki*

oh! it takes a second to process she’s back. weird. she sits up slightly, still firm on keeping the blanket around her, and grabs the glass and takes a sip. it’s refreshing on her dry throat.
