And I feel the same way about the fact that everyone just took the term "pro-ship" as it is, like, let's think for a second about how language influences thought. pro-ship is not a neutral term, it puts itself in a position of victimhood, because look shipping is just this cute thing fandoms do so being pro-ship means youre pro shipping! So hating them means you hate harmless shipping! When it actually has nothing to do with that, and people not only let them run with it but also played into it directly by labelling themselves "antis". Which is part of why i have never called myself that and will never directly say "proshippers" but rather "people who call themselves proship" because to me that language is not coincidental and is a planned ploy to make themselves seem more palatable and agreeable and non threatening. Like it just is playing into their game, they conflate their specific objectification with shipping as a whole, the same way they will conflate objectification and global general depiction of said topics. It's not a coincidence because it works and people fall hard for that. I would argue theres even a lot of people calling themselves proship that dont even know what theyre defending and sincerely believe it is only about depiction in media in general.
