Lemon placed a delicate hand on her chest. âWaste your time? Myâ Heavens no. I wouldnât even think of it!" The blonde couldnât squash that notion any quicker. She had to spin this around to be something unequivocally appealing. So much so that she hoped heâd just assume he came up with the idea himself. Lemon had high expectations about everythingâeven dream scenarios. It was a thoroughly well-oiled machine in that brain of hers.
At the first indication of a âyesâ from Shane, she had already disappeared into the kitchen. "Please sit down. Make yourself comfortable! Iâll be right out.â She opened up one of the cabinets and took out a silver serving platter. The presentation had to be everything. Especially the distraction snacks. Opening up the fridge, she picked the glass jug and placed it on the platter, along with two cups. She went over to the stove and started placing four of her famous apricot biscuits on a plate, and added that onto the platter too. The mix of the two pieces would hopefully keep his palate sweet and fresh enough to take in her proposalâwhich would surely blow him away.
She just had to work on her subtlety. That might be the only thing she wasnât entirely too sure about.
With the tray in both hands, she braced herself, taking a deep breath. A brief 'you got this,â uttered under her breath just before walking into the foyer where she was receiving the officer. âI went ahead and added some of my famous apricot biscuits.â she dedicated a grand smile to him, bending down to place the platter on the table in front of him. Her smile lingered a tad too brightly, as she set a napkin for him, and a coasterâ pouring him a glass of Iced Tea. âIâm sure with all drivinâ around town you must be parched! This heat is really somethinâ isnât it?â she posed the question nonchalantly.Â
The blonde poured herself a glass as well, and took a sip, placing it delicately on her own coaster. She leaned back to her chair, and crossed her legs, almost magically conjuring up from the side a hand fan, to fan herself. A hopefully subtle way to keeping the focus on just how hot it was during their talk. But there was nothing magical about that placement. She might have conveniently placed it on the side of the cushion she knew she would sit in.Â
EVER SINCE HIGH SCHOOL LEMON BREELAND HAD BEEN SOMETHING OF A HANDFUL. why would it be any different, now she was just like a hyper pta mom of the town. there was no other way of describing her to be honest, that was the perfect manner of looking at. he could have ignored the call but duty and all that right? he liked his job even if it meant calls like this. he watched her go before he turned towards her sitting area with his hands hooked in his belts, one lifting to brush over his head. âgonna be a long day.â he grunted to himself as he was left to his devices. he stepped over and seemed to investigate the couch before he plunked himself down on the edge and while resting his arms against his legs he brought his hands together and was waiting for her return with a sense of slight dredd.Â
he didnât hate lemon, donât think that, he and her had their own history of course. him and it is too long to proudly admit a list of women in this town or hell even county. his gaze glanced around lemonâs well kept, probably never head the end of it if you rearrange anything or got crumbs somewhere, living space until he heard her coming back and quickly turned his attention as she brought forth a tray with goodies in her attempt to be heard by him on her issues. issues that were not an actual emergency and he was sure that they both knew it too. she had to know it right?
shane was watching every move she made with the calculations of a cop trying to deduce a situation almost like this was some kind of interrogation. not that it was but lemon had called him out on an emergency that wasnât really an emergency and he was ready to get it out of her, end this conversation and get back to his real job even as he reached for the glass she poured for him because she was right âŠ. was damn hot out. sipping the refreshment he reached out and set it down. âyeah guess i amâŠâ he spoke once it was placed carefully on a coaster.
there was a pause as he seemed to consider his words and how to get about this quickly so that he could also leave ⊠quickly. âwhat exactly you hoping to get outta dragging me out here on this so called emergency, lem? cause i got actual work i need to be doinâ and youâre kinda hindering that to be honest.â
