Your head was spinning when you'd wake up next day. You felt your head pounding already hating the fact that you had to stand up to start the day.
You couldn't just forget those blue eyes and the deep voice.
"She said no"
The words made your head dizzy and nervous remembering of what he'd said last night.
The idea of going to the Iceberg Lounge made you sick and nervous. Mostly because it was one of the first reckless things you'd ever done. Your hair hidden by a short curly orange wig and your eyes covered, too. You were there to investigate.
Investigate your dad.
Well, you weren't lying at all though. You indeed took your not-too-close friend's shift, but initially you were there, trying to found something, anything.
Since your mother's death, your dad was weird. Arriving late a home, unknown id's calls, nervous all the time, so what only you could think was that he had someone else. It did made you uncomfortable because you knew at some point he'd move on but not too soon to watch him leave the house too late at nights. If you even magined that, you'd feel your blood boiling, thinking of your mom.
Your mom.
Talking about her just made your heart ache, deeply ache. You loved her so much, that her passing away It was something you didn’t quite get over it, I mean, how can someone could ever?
You got to admit that your father has been a good father, he’d always been a good husband with your mom too.
He was great because you'd never lack anything. But you knew what he was doing to you, always making you uncomfortable around wealthy man and taking advantage of your passive attitude towards him.
Deeply, you loved him.
And watching him only last night get drinks and converse with those rich man made you believe —again, he was good.
Although you didn't see anything suspicious at all, —already being at the Iceberg Lounge was strange, so, why did you still feeling like something was off?
Maybe you were too blind to admit that watching your dad talk to other dangerous men, smiling, nodding, agreeing, made you doubt. Made you ask yourself; who was really your dad?
Was he really friendly with mafia members or-
“Y/N, did you take care of this?” Your dad’s voice resonated in their kitchen, making you watch two piece of paper he’d thrown in front of you. Taking you completely out of your mind.
“Oh… I-I forgot but—” you hated the way your voice was so small when you talked to him, “I will call Mr. Smith and see if—”
“You forgot?” William repeated. He adjusted the cuffs of his expensive shirt before taking a slow sip of coffee “Y/N, do you understand how much money people invest in us?” he asked calmly. “How many important people trust my family?”
Your stomach twisted and you'd gulp, nervously “I said I’ll fix it.”
“You should’ve fixed it yesterday.”
Silence filled the kitchen.
Rain tapped softly against the windows while her father stared at the papers in front of you. You knew that look, cold and calculating.
If you went back, you’d remember that same look since you were a kid, he didn’t have to say anything but give you that look.
William expression softened suddenly. “I know you’re still sensitive after your mother,” he sighed. “But I need you to help me and keep everything together, that’s what she would like”
Your throat tightened instantly.
There it was.
Always getting your mother becoming part of the argument somehow. Guilt crawled up your spine so quickly it made you feel sick.
“I’m trying, dad” you whispered.
So William just walked toward you slowly before fixing a strand of hair behind your ear.
“I know you are, sweetheart”
You exhaled with your now watery eyes. That was the problem. Sometimes he sounded so loving you almost believed it. You'd believe he was good, and he was, just at his own way.
After your dad left for work, the house became quiet again, letting you exhale while you grabbed the papers William gave you to start working on it. It was some checks you forgot to take a look.
Too quiet.
You hated that.
Ever since your mother's death, silence felt different. Before, silence meant Sunday mornings when it was finally a day off, books, coffee brewing in the kitchen, your mother's soft humming while watering the plants.
Now it felt like something had been ripped out of the house.
When you'd finished your coffee, you stared absentmindedly through the window. A memory appeared before you could stop it.
"Mommy"
Ten-year-old Y/N sat on the kitchen counter swinging your legs.
"Hm?" your mother smiled while cutting strawberries.
“How do you think my husband goin’ to look like?”
Your mother laughed, ”Y/N baby, you’re just a kid”
“But I want a husband like my dad!”
Her smile slightly faded, still turned to look at you. “Don’t rush, patience little lady” your mom laughed, “you’ll get that, even better”
The memory disappeared as quickly as it came, and the kitchen was empty again. You'd swallowed hard, feeling your chest hurt because you knew you’d never hear that laugh again.
Never.
The realization still hit you unexpectedly. Like a punch to the chest. Slowly, you stood up and walked upstairs. Your parent's room had remained untouched since she passed away, your dad, moved to his office since he spent all day inside.
So their room was still the same, her clothes still there. Everything.
The door creaked softly when you'd opened the door.
Everything was exactly where your mother had left it. The perfume bottles, her books, all the photographs. Her blue sweater hanging from the closet door.
For a second you could almost pretend your mother would walk through the door any minute.
"Sweetheart?"
Nothing.
Just silence, your eyes burned when you'd moved toward the vanity, dust already covering the wooden surface. Her jewelry still untouched, as same as her expensive makeup.
As you wiped it away, something caught your attention.
A small notebook.
One you had never seen before, sure, you’d seen a lot of notebooks and books since your mother used to write a lot, but that one was new to see. Your brow furrowed. Slowly, you opened it.
The first pages were grocery lists, appointments, random notes, pies recipes. Notes you'd left her before, feeling your eyes getting watery again.
Then your heart stopped.
March 14.
William lied again.
You'd froze, feeling your whole body cold.
March 22.
I asked him where the foundation money went.
He became angry.
March 29.
Asked my therapist if my daughter should know.
She said yes.
The notebook slipped from your trembling fingers.
For the first time since her mother's death, you'd wondered if your mother all the time knew about your dad business.
Because you only knew the slightest part of them.

"Her again, Master Wayne?” Alfred’s voice echoed into the cave.
Bruce, with his short responses, only could turn his head a little and nod watching his screen again.
“Her dad…”
“Oh, yes of course. Sir William, great lawyer. He helped your family a few times.” Alfred nodded when he got closer to the desk.
“There’s something weird” Bruce’s voice was deep and raspy, his tone in suspense.
“Weird?”
“With his daughter”
“Y/N, honey come here” Even though his voice was gentle, Bruce could remember how he a little too hard grabbed your arm and made you stand up from your sit.
Bruce had his contact lenses on that night, right after he started being Batman, when he attended to galas, he’d to wear them.
“This is my lovely daughter” he grabbed your arm, pushing you slightly to Bruce. He could remember your face. You were flushed, with a hard —uncomfortable smile on your face. “Give him your hand” Bruce catches that small briefly whisper that came out of your father’s mouth, tiling his face to yours for a moment and smiling at Bruce.
“Hi, Mr. Wayne” You almost whispered, and Bruce saw how tight your arm was being pulled. “I heard a lot of you” Your voice was soft, pure, too damn good for Gotham.
“He always does that” Alfred said with an ashamed voice. “William always introduce his daughter to everyone —every man—, it’s… dreadful.”
William was a recognized lawyer in Gotham, since Bruce started working on his late night activities, and started to understand it, he at some point realizes that crime wasn’t just Gotham’s dark alleys. Was more that, it was the people, politicians, wealth men, fathers.
William’s name was always there when he investigated whatever he was working on, her dad had something off.
Bruce silence let Alfred know something was going on his mind. “… why… why she doesn’t do anything?”
“Her mother passed away a year ago. It’s only her and William, Master Wayne.” Alfred said. “We actually take care of one of their medical bills. The Wayne Foundation, she requested it some months ago”
“Why I didn’t know anything about it?”
The simple question made Alfred laugh dryly “I’d be surprised if you, Master Bruce, would be interested in your family legacy”
Although Bruce wanted to do something, he didn’t wanted to look so obsessed over it. So he eventually leaved at some weird case he’d check one day. Until that night.
Gotham streets were wet and covered with trash while you walked. It was late at night when he noticed you while he was on patrol.
He remembered your soft face.
Y/N was wearing a simple jeans and a sweater, under an umbrella that was doing anything to cover her from the pouring rain.
His face frowned when he realized that she just came walking in that direction he knew. Y/N was running out from the Iceberg Lounge.
“Hey pretty girl, come here” A male voice resonated in the empty street.
Bruce saw her look back and press her bag to her chest and walk faster. “No, don’t run, come on, I just want to talk”
Bruce was ready to interfere when the man reached her. “Why you runnin’? Your father told me you had free time”
The mention of her father made him nauseous. He saw from far how her face got pale and just couldn’t talk. “C’mon, I know you don’t talk-“
“No, please I have to go” y/n shaky voice made Bruce close his fists, her eyes were full of fear.
“Nah, come here”
“She said no”
Both jumped at the deep, hoarse voice behind them. The Batman walked in big, fast steps and grabbed the man from his neck.
He recognized him as some political rich man, knowing that she was definitely at the Iceberg. “Shit! I’m sorry man! I’ll leave her alone!” The poor man almost cried, full of fear when he saw The Batman looking at him with angry eyes.
“Go” He aggressive let his covered hands out his collar neck almost throwing him down, making the blonde politician run away from them.
She, on the other side, was almost shaking.
Y/N looked like a wet lost puppy with her hands grabbing her umbrella turning her fingers white. “You alright?”
She could only nod watching down her feet. Was she scared of him?
“Hey… look at me” Bruce’s voice came out rasp but still soft when he walked towards her. “He’s gone ”
“Thank you, Sir”
Bruce thanked inside him, the only light they had was the streetlights and some stores around so he could grin just a little when he noticed how polite she was.
“You work at the Iceberg?”
“No- I…” she babbled, nervous. “I only took my friend’s shift and-“
“Why?”
Bruce wanted to know. Why’d she go there? Very inside of him didn’t want to believe she’d be helping her father on some dirty business.
Everybody in Gotham knew the richest people —including him, at some point got involved in wretched deals, and even if she had actually good intentions, next day she’ll be gone.
“I have to go” Y/N said firmly, still looking at him with wide eyes.
“I won’t hurt you.” He said softly, almost only for him to listen. “You should not take your friend’s shift. You don’t need that money”
He knew after he said those words she’d be worried, knowing The Batman knows about her wealth and probably who she was. “Be safe”
Those were the last words Bruce said to her before he disappeared from her vision, keeping an eye on her from far away making sure she got home safely.

Since the feelings started to get stronger and stronger, Frank knew he was fucked up.
He felt he was betraying his family, like everything he had done was for nothing. All the bullets, all the fights, blood to vengeance his last name, to end, falling in love for you.
He didn’t accept it if he was being honest. He tried so hard to ignore that deep feeling every time you were around.
How could he not fell in love?
Since you appeared, his life changed, and everyone around him would tell Frank how good you were for him. He loved the way you made him laugh even for the smallest thing, he loved your kindness, all of you was pure joy and oh, how he loved that.
He was so deep into you, Frank even didn't realize how deep.
How serious it was.
But every night, even if he was sleeping with you, the guilt feeling was just so overwhelming, he didn’t know how to handle it. Not yet.
Every day he was falling, more and more into you.
And it was really not Frank’s intention to that night went terribly wrong. His whole body ache and even the familiar bloody test in mouth made him nauseous.
He just needed to found some information, but all his pressure got him carried away, making the night way more intense he thought.
His boots were heavy walking to your alley, the night was cozy, slightly raining, just how you loved it. Just imagine you already waiting for him with some delicious dinner and some handmade lemon pay, would get Frank already smiling.
But he was feeling mad. Angry.
Traitor.
Was he remembering Maria?
Was he missing the feeling of having a wife?
A family?
God, all those thoughts made him sick, guilty, he was a fucking traitor.
“Hey… oh, are you okay?
Your pretty voice was low when he first opened the door.
The freshly cooked food and baked smell rather than making him felt less stressed, it was pissing him off.
“I’m good” he muttered, already untying his boots with a heavy breath listening to your steps.
“Need help?”
“Baby… I’m fine” his voice came out tight, but still pushing that fine line of almost, snapping. He was trying so hard to keep his mouth shout.
You frown your eyes at his answer, “oh… um- alright… I’ll get dinner”
Even you giving him space when you knew he need it made him almost wanna cry.

You gave him space. You knew when he need it and actually respected it, leaving him alone, waiting for him in bed.
“No, we, we actually—we need to talk”
“Talk? Like, right now?"

The dry laugh Frank gave you was just ridiculous. Already making you mad too, because you could tell where was the conversation going. “You know what, Frank? I have a hard day too, I’m just tired and I don’t want to have this conversation with you right now.”
Fuck.
Even that response got Frank almost tearing up. His stomach ache thinking that everything was remaining him of Maria.
“No, Y/N” he just couldn’t hold it anymore. “I’m sick!” His voice resounded all over your place, making your eyes already teary.

“I haver never, Frank, you know that,” you try your voice to came out serious and cold, but instead, it was shaky “W-what makes you think that?”
“Y/N, I need to leave,” he said coming back to get his black boots, “I’m sorry, ‘right? You want kids, I don’t want them no more” his voice was tight and sharp. “It’s cruel and I’m sorry for trying keep it up so long,” he was tying his boots—again, when he spoke those words, “You deserve better”
The night was way colder you think it’d be. You swear your heart pounded, you’d feel it in your chest.

he is definitely nervous when your birthday is coming, almost two weeks before, he starts feeling anxious.
but it's because he doesn't even know how to celebrate it or what to do, his birthdays were doleful since his parents passed away, becoming a normal day since then.
Alfred has always respected Bruce's grief but at some point he started to give him a cake and a small present, trying to not let the day pass by.
So at your first birthday with him, he'd try to make everything perfect. He doesn't even know what to do, so of course he asks Alfred for his help.
"What should I gift her? Or, should I take her to dinner?"
"Mr. Wayne she's your girlfriend, you know her better than I do, but definitely a romantic evening sounds perfect"
So he spends all night thinking what can it be a perfect gift for you.
He knows what you like he's just insecure if you'd like it (of course you would).
he'd get you your whole Amazon wishlist, that'd included your now new water bottle for your gym class, some new cozy shoes, a new red wallet and just random stuff.

when you'd turn around the necklace, a pretty cursive font engraved into the pendant, with Bruce and your initials there. It's definitely beautiful, knowing since then you'd wear it every day.
Oh and obviously while he was hacking into your laptop, he saw you'd been searching for a Chanel bag so he gets it for you, too :)

It honestly was something Bruce didn’t notice at first. He was an insecure man too.
He was constantly shy, scared of showering his raw emotions towards you, because of course he didn’t have enough experience with relationships, that, was that made him insecure.
So he wasn’t really aware of insecurities, of your insecurities. Because insecurity was “normal” for him.
But, that night, Bruce got invited to a charity event, one clearly he didn’t want to attend, at some point he accepted despite all his own allegations. He of course invited you, it would be the first time you and him would be outside, facing every one in Gotham.
You, before knowing he wanted to you to be with him, your smile was big and you’d be nodding, excited because you loved the way Bruce looked in a full suit. Your smile faded uncomfortably when he said both of you will be there.
Your chest pounding, your hands sweating already thinking, what would you wear without looking bad at all.
All of that, Bruce noticed.
He noticed when you were all serious and pale looking around your closet. He frowned his eyes, confused, not fully understanding your face.
“What’s wrong?” he said. “That dress is pretty, try it on”
So you did. You put that black velvet dress on, unsure of that piece, you were right, you hated your reflection.
He watched your face, your frustration in your face was evident.
“I don’t know… maybe-“ you said looking around your body. “Maybe it’s too small for me”
“Small?” Bruce asked softly. “Baby… i think it looks great, i don’t see any problem”
You nodded, but still felt your chest heavy with your insecurities. Because it wasn’t only that dress.
Insecurities were not only a piece of fabric. It was way more than that. You were pretty, but if you looked closely at your face, you’d notice texture you’d hate to see, dark spots under your eyes and cheeks. Freckles all over your cheeks and chest, arms with a slightly pat of hairs, your skin was not soft enough, and the list was endless.
Still, you’d smile to Bruce, nodding at him because he was actually excited, even if it was the slightest excitement, he was really hoping you could be there with him.
“So, Master Wayne” Alfred started when he saw Bruce entering the kitchen that next morning. “Is everything set up for tomorrow’s night?”
“Yeah, i think it’s all good” Bruce shortly said, quietly sitting down accepting his cup of black coffee. “Well,” Alfred look at him, curious when Bruce was about to talk more than he usually did in the mornings. “Y/N, she’s weird,-" He quickly said. “She’s acting weird, i mean. I feel like she doesn’t want to go with me to the gala tonight”
Alfred wanted to laugh at Bruce’s reaction. He sometimes seemed like a teenager trying to understand his girlfriend, but besides that, Alfred was also really concerned of your attitude.
“Is she acting different towards you, Master Wayne?”
“No” he said confused, "Well, maybe yeah"
His response made Alfred laugh slightly, because Bruce lack of experience was just heartwarming. "She's fine, Bruce" His tone was soft, almost like a grandfather talking to his kid. "Maybe she is just nervous, Y/N, just like you, doesn't like big crowds. You know that feeling, try to understand her better"
The cold night was there and the event was happening.
Bruce could tell you indeed, were nervous. Maybe way more than you should have, making him wondering what could've get you that way.
Did he do something wrong?
His own insecurities made him anxious. Too.
He was trying to focus on all around, but it was really difficult to him since you were acting weird, and also because he loved how pretty you looked.
"Hey... it's all okay?" His question was soft in your ear, watching you nod at him in response, but he wasn't sure about it. "Babe, really-"
"Bruce Wayne, oh man... it's a honor to see you here, pardon me. I didn't want to interrupt you" The man indeed interrupt Bruce, making him exhale annoyed, faking a thigh smile when he turned around to face him, not before squeezing your hand, apologizing.
He didn't know at what moment you'd sit up and left his side. When he finally was able to leave the non-interesting chat he was having, he was excusing himself, looking for you everywhere.
Relax.
He said to himself when he didn't see you around. Maybe having a conversation with some woman, or deciding which dessert you'd have next. His instincts were making him feel –already– nervous, trying to not overreact.
Your phone was in his pocket.
Just relax.
He was moving on autopilot all around, like a lost puppy looking for you, his hand sweating and already thinking on calling Alfred, so he could prepare his suit-
"Shit"
Your voice.
He could recognized it from far away, he could recognize even with the voices on the background and the music, your voice was muffled.
Were you crying?
"y/n?" He asked while he opened the women's bathroom. "Babe?"
He could see your heels sneaking on the floor, making him imagine you were sitting on the toilet. "What happened? Y/N, please" His words were awfully soft for you.
"God, this is so embarrassing" that's the only thing you said, knowing that you just couldn't hold it anymore.
"It's not, please let me see you."
You didn't have more option that open the door to face him, embarrassed. "Bruce, please jus', take me home"
The way to Bruce's car was silent. He didn't know what was going on so he just keeps his hands from himself in case he made a mistake that could possibly make you mad at him.
When you both were finally inside his car, you exhaled, finally feeling free of getting off your high heels and that heavy pressure in your chest.
"... I'm sorry for disappearing like that, I know you were probably looking out for me"
"I was but-" Bruce looked at your sad eyes, and reaching for a stray of hair was covering your face. "What's going on, y/n?"
"It's just," you breathed from your mouth, already feeling your eyes filling with angry tears and your chest pounding "I hated my dress so bad, my- my hair was just so messy and- fuck, I just hate not having the body I want, my arms are so big and they didn't fit-"
"Wow- wait, what?"
Your words made Bruce almost choked and frown his eyebrows.
"I hated! I hated so bad Bruce"
"Okay, okay, I get it, shh," the way you talked about yourself made him sick and also the way you were crying only got him feeling like the worst person ever, your sobs were hard, taking all that anxiety that'd grown from the past days, "no, please, don't cry" Bruce said softly to you, trying to grab your hands that were covering your face. "Look at me, y/n"
Your red watery eyes only made him desperately trying to grab your face, "I don't care" his voice came out softly, gently pulling you towards him, "y/n you're just so perfect for me"
Bruce's hands were heavy on your face feeling his blue eyes staring at yours. "I'm sorry, I'm the one who should apologize" your brows frowned at his words, "because I'm not a good boyfriend... and if I... I were then I should be remembering you, every day how insanely beautiful you are"
"Bruce don't-"
"Shh, I'm not done yet" he almost whispered, "you're just so pretty for me y/n, I cant believe you see yourself like that when I sometimes think how did you laid your eyes on me in the first place, I'm just a simple guy"
"Bruce you're literally a millionaire"
Both of you laughed softly at your words, making you sniff and grabbing Bruce's hands that were still on your face.
"I'd never forget the night I met you. I loved that smile," his fingers rubbed gently your heated cheeks, wiping your tears "wish you could see the way I see you"
His words were deeply honest. He really didn't even notice before any of the things you mentioned or have mentioned before that night. Your arms? Your hair? Your skin? God, it didn't have nothing wrong. He loved every single part of you he just couldn't see any of that.
He loved that you accepted him the way he is, accepted him as just as inexperienced he is. He had a lot of good things to say to you.
"'M sorry," you sniffed, playing with his fingers on your face.
"don't be," Bruce soft lips touched yours, not pushing more, "Seriously, you're pretty. Like really pretty" You laughed.
Bruce was still unsure of what to say.
He was insecure too.
He didn't know if telling you that tonight made him crazy when you were dressing, when he saw you putting your body lotion on your legs and spraying that perfume he loved, drove him insane and thinking how badly he couldn't wait to get home so he can take that dress out of you, finally. Maybe that'd work.
But even that lack of experience and communication made you smile, feeling sure that he loved you. That if he was with you was for a reason, and you'd to really believe that.
"I love you so much it hurts" Bruce murmured on your lips, "please baby, let me show you how much I love you"

okay maybe it was flop but tbh its something it actually happens to me too so it was hard to write it without tearing up a bit :´) I bet all of u are sososo pretty never let no one say otherwise !
