Beatrice Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Betty White, and Estelle Getty in The Golden Girls episode entitled âTwas the Nightmare Before Christmas, originally broadcast by NBC on December 20th, 1986. The seriesâ prop department pranked the four stars during rehearsals by creating calendars containing photos of the showâs mostly middle-aged male crew members posing shirtless in exaggerated âsexyâ poses. When Bea, Rue, Betty, and Estelle first saw the calendars while doing a read-through on the set, they all burst into gales of laughter, with Bea wiping tears from her eyes while she giggled hysterically looking at each monthâs new photo (behind the scenes video of this can be viewed on YouTube by searching for The Golden Girls âBlanche Calendarâ). The actresses kept their calendars, with Rueâs selling for $4,000 at her estate auction in 2011.
