“Love, Love, Love (III)” (2018) - oil, oxidation and engraving on welded steel plates, 75x65 cm. This was the third and last painting of a series inspired by Erika/#IsabelleHuppert in "La Pianiste" by #ElfriedeJelinek (book) and #MichaelHaneke (film) and the need of love, any kind it can be, any shades it can have: tender, raw, physical, platonic, ordinary, obsessive, sick... 🔥 In the following fragments you can see something of the work in progress, included the collection of the rust which I removed before starting painting, and collected in little test tubes. This painting will be shoen in #Mannheim at the @kunstprojekte Art Gallery for the #GroupExhibition "Das kleine Format". "Fregio (Third Movement - We Are A Galaxy)" (2016), oil, bitumen and oxidation on steel, 50x25 cm, is the third of a series which were inspired by old roman freezes seeing at the Archeological Museum in Turin. In this quite busy moment exhibiting in Berlin, Pietrasanta and Munich, I would like to share "Stardust", the new painting for which I have decided to try using only three different kinds of white (Carrara's, titanium and zinc white). Let's see if time will warm it up and turn it into pink 😉 "Stardust" (2029), oil and oxidation on steel, 25x25 cm, was inspired by the wonderful expressive actor Terence Stamp in Fellini's short film "Toby Dammit" as part of the thrilogy "Histoires extraordinaires" (I love the italian title: Tre passi nel delirio). Lotte Laserstein (1898-1993) didn't have the luck like Grosz, Dix, Gerstl and many more who are in the collections of museums in the whole world. But she deserves so much attention, and if you have the chance to be in Berlin soon, dont miss the exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie, because you'll see paintings of straordinary technique and depth. "Don't Listen When I Scream (VIII)" (2015) is a painting (oil on the figure, bitumen on the beackground) on chipboard, another one of my several works on wood from last years. It's the opposite feeling to the previous two posts, where a man is quiet sleeping on a light blue background. With this more dramatic version, as the dark background and the awoken figure suggests, I wanted to reflect on how night is not always the moment of sleep but, exactly opposite to it, can be spent in vigil.
