gonna start with cat quest 3 bc I have the most thoughts on it
One of the things I hc is that takomeowki is actually really interested in history,especially asian culture/history. He is a nerd. Geek even. Much to his father’s. Indifference. His father is very closed off,due to takomeowki’s mother’s death when he was still young. He was never that abusive,just…apathetic,in much contrast to tako being quite expressive. Tako never knew what he would be thinking. He’d be happy when he saw the smallest bit of emotion from his father,positive or negative. This lead to him as a child being quite mischievous,finding fun in making people angry. But it never felt enough. One day,his father mentions the North Star,so he decides to go search for it. Oops sorry that escalated quickly
Ok now for meowtallika my Shayla ❤️ I’ve already said this but I hc him as nb/demiboy due to how I thought he was referred to as they in the game by mistake lol. Before he died he was surrounded by people who put on a facade,and seen as an outcast by them,due to his struggles with following rules-not in a “rules are boring” way,but more as a genuine flaw (ok maybe I might be projecting shhhh don’t tell). He soon gave up on trying to be normal and whatnot,and just decided to ignore rules by his own will,annoying those around him. Idk how,but something happens and he dies,but since he’s still confident in the whole breaking rules thing,he manages to flee from it,and makes a deal with someone to have a full physical form,unlike cappey who’s just a ball lol. He manages to break other souls free too,which become his crew. A lot of his crew died quite young,and talli wanted to free them so they could have another chance at life.
Ok now the pi-rat king ok hi. I hc his name to actually be king (kingsley for long what a Mary sue ass name),as his family cherished him so much as a child. However,something happened,which lead to his family soon losing his love for him,it seemingly to only be conditional in the end. He has abandonment issues due to that. It lead to him trying to get attention from others,thinking he would get it due to how loved he originally was,but got the exact opposite. He began to hate his name,feeling he didn’t deserve it if nobody truly cared for him unconditionally. He feels he only has a name if he’s earned it,which is why he goes by the pi-rat king. When his crew was plagued,he was very worried that he’d lose his crew,going back to being a nameless nobody,that he would sacrifice himself to cure everyone.
Ok now I get to talk about meowtalliking ❤️ essentially both have had terrible experiences with love; meowtallika never received it truly,and the pirat king was brought up to think it was only a conditional thing. Plus they never really has anyone equal to them. When they decided to pawtner,it’s quite a ~~autism vs adhd~~ reluctant alliance,seeing each other as nothing more than one-dimensional characters,this causes the pirat king to lie to meowtallika a fair amount,and meowtallika to be quite prejudiced towards the pirats. However,they soon realise that they are more complex than they seem;more similar too. Despite this,talli fears being hurt again,and king worries that that talli will leave him if he slips up. However,after cappey tells meowtallika he’s been lied to,he basically just snaps. He actually felt loved for once,he trusted someone for once,only to be deceived yet again. He goes to confront the pirat king,almost attacking him out of rage,but being hit by sadness,he gives up and leaves. This “proves” the pirat king’s fear of being left and love only being conditional. After the main story however,meowtallika returns,learning forgiveness. Tldr two dudes have never felt unconditional love and almost doom their relationship due to it

This made me realize something. We dunno who Kirry was in life. Spirry is all but stated to be Mauth, and Cappey explicitly says that he was alive before, but Kirry? Nada. All we got was that he and the mages summoned the protagonists and is their aide, but that's it.
