TRIGGER WARNING
Richie Watched Eddie Die

I cannot stress enough how much credit Bill Hader deserves for how beautifully he played this scene. The fact that he could not accept what happened, that they would beat that sloppy bitch clown and still lose Eddie, is so utterly heartbreaking and only made more painful when they have to physically drag him out of there.
Richie can’t even take notice of everything falling apart around him because he’s too busy dealing with everything falling apart inside of him.
I’m honestly so proud of Bill for making all of us cry and so happy for those who are discovering just how talented he is. He so earned these scenes at the end of the movie, I think he’s so endearing that he earned audiences’ love right away and everyone was right there with him, feeling what he was feeling when he couldn’t let go of someone he’d lost once already.
Anyway, I’m going to go cry again now, thanks for stopping by!
AKSKSKSK BITCH BILL WAS SO FUCKING CUTE HERE CAN I JUST HOLD HIM PLS
WARNING: graphic body horror, blood, general terror and of course, spoilers because the app won’t let me make a read more.

the fact that eddie only says, “i don’t want richie...” while shaking and crying makes me more emotional than i care to admit and is such a genius hint of his feelings.
beyond that, part of eddie’s flashback fear was not being able to save his mom. adult eddie can’t bring himself to save richie in this scene, which makes it doubly meaningful when he’s the one to save richie from the deadlights.
eddie overcame that fear of not being able to take action for one man, this man. love went both ways.

YOU’RE A SLOPPY BITCH
If the losers would have let him, Richie 100% would have stayed and died with Eddie in his arms, so they could finally be together.
“We gotta get him out of here, man,” Richie said. “Come on, Ben”
“It’s too dark” Richie sobbed. “You know... it’s too dark. Ed’s... he...”
