Mr. Davis, obvioulsy being one of the more laid back teachers, wasnât one to just let his students stay unsafe where ever they went. He was always reminding them to be safe once Friday came around and to also, be careful when they were out in public. While he was sure no one ever took this advice, he just felt it was nice to give. As Ryder started to question his question, he shook his head. âIâm allowed to check in on my students, yes.â, he assured, giving a small smile. Noticing the change in demeanor, he knew that something wasnât right. When he heard the story behind the bruises, he scoffed. âWhen you donât do things fast enough, he gives you bruises?â. Hearing what Ryder was telling him was infuriating him, which was strange, sensing that he hadnât even known Ryder that well. âItâs definitely something, Mr. Morgan. Those bruises are a deep purple, not just a deep red. Theyâre horrid! I canât let you walk around wearing your foster dadâs anger.â, he went on before gathering all of his things. Looking to Ryder as he stood up, he shook his head. âYou can get a lift, it just wonât be home.â, he grabbed his keys before moving around to stand in front of Ryder. âI donât believe you should be staying in that type of home, Mr. Morgan. Itâs not safe, nor does it seem sanitary. Youâre a bright student, we donât need these bruises and scars denting your future. Youâre coming home with me, weâll pick up some food on the way.â, he explained, heading towards the door to his classroom. Opening the door, he wanted to let Ryder out first, looking towards him. âWell? Arenât you coming?â, he asked, smiling softly.
Ryder kept his eyes on the ground, too ashamed to look up. He knew what would come from this. Mr. Davis would have to tell the Headmaster, his foster parents would come up with an excuse that painted Ryder as this problematic child who lied to get people in trouble... And heâd get more than little hand-marks around his arm. He was shaking slightly, just thinking about how much pain he would have to endure after this conversation. âS-Sir... Please, itâs not what I made it sound like. He just doesnât realise his strength is all. Itâs not abuse... I would like to just go home. Iâm late and I need to eat and sleep.â His voice was a mumble, and it was quite obvious that he was lying as he refused to make eye contact with the other. He finally looked up in shock that Mr. Davis would give him a lift. âWhere... Where else would you take me? Sir, I need to get home!â His mouth fell open as he stared at his teacher in utter disbelief. âWhat? No! Mr. Davis, you could get in a lot of trouble for taking me home to your place, I canât let that happen. Iâll just get the bus home. I-I canât have you losing your job because youâve got the wrong idea of my home...â He shook his head and clutched his things tighter to himself. âN-No. Iâm not coming, Iâm sorry sir. I think itâs best I just leave. I-I-Iâll see you in your next class.â He mumbled, walking out the door and fumbling in his bag to find some change to pay for the bus home. Ry let out a whine as he found none and instead stared at his phone. Heâd just have to call his foster dad... He knew it wouldnât end well, but it was the only option he had left. Ryder dialled the number and pressed the phone to his ear. Just the sound of his foster fatherâs voice made him shake in fear. âD-Da-Dad... I need... No, I didnât run away... I just had to st-...â He stopped and flinched as he listened to his foster dad saying how mad he was, and just how bad the punishments would be when he got him. His eyes watered a little as he nodded.
