30⠀ ⠀ I had an 18 year old once asked me “What is life like in your 20’s?” I replied; “My twenties have been fruitful and discipline” As my twenties comes to a close I looked back and see how far I come and astonished what God has done in my previous decade and honestly I’m proud of myself the man I have become and who I’m becoming. God always delights the work in progress and always gives grace for our failures. I’m at peace in my calling and my identity, I confidently believe this new decade is going the best and I already thank god in advance for what he is going to do. “𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕜 𝔾𝕠𝕕, 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕜 𝕁𝕦𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕖”⠀ _____________________________________⠀ ⠀ I had a conversation with a black mother of two children this past week and as I got to know I ask her “How are you feeling right now with all that is going on in our nation regarding of George Floyd Death?” She describes feeling “numb” is what she is primary feeling. After our conversation she broke down and cry not because what is happening because of happiness and joy because our church leaders and community toke a stand and be a voice of justice. Thankful for our pastors @richwilkersonjr @dawnchere and our @vouschurch community to not back down but be a voice for others in this hurting time. God is already on the move! I believe it whole heartedly that people will learn to love others and their hearts receive a awakening. My grandmother said to this to me while I was growing up when she dealt with racism: “Just because you disagree with someone doesn’t give you the earn right to disrespect them.” God calls into unity and we are called to LOVE ALL people, not just some people. ⠀ ⠀ ______________________________________⠀ ⠀ Encouragement for you today: ⠀ ⠀ •Instead of asking your black friends (or individuals) “How are you doing?” | Ask them: “How can I support you?”, “How are you Feeling?” “What thoughts have been circling in your brain?” & “What Story are you telling yourself today?” ⠀ ⠀ •Be a voice for others that cannot speak! There is power in presence. In the same way that God is with us, we demonstrate his character and nature when we choose to be with others. Presence provides comfort, care, and a sense of security. It’s choosing to sit down with someone in the middle of his or her journey, and say, “I’m here. I am not trying to fix you, heal you, save you, or correct you.” ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ There’s humility in presence. We usually don’t have the answer to life’s problems, and we don’t have to act like we do. We can just show up and be with people, as they process life, and look to God for his help. There is only one Savior, and we are not Him. ⠀ ⠀ If we become better listeners than advice givers, we learn to know people, rather than fix people. When we seek to know each other, we tend to withhold judgment and engage as two people on the same level. ⠀ ⠀ That’s actually what the truth is at all times: ⠀ The ground is level at the foot of the cross.
