Product Design: Primary Research - Lakeside & Bluewater For the primary research of our latest college brief 'product design' (in which we are to focus on products used around the house, more specifically, bathroom, kitchen and garden) a small group of us decided to go to Lakeside to gather some pictures and get a feel for what we would be focusing on for the next 7 weeks. Personally, after this research, i am warming to garden products, as there i feel I could push myself to design/improve an innovative product.

primary research - thurrock, ikea. for the 'furniture' brief i went to ikea to view a variety of furniture, including the four listed that we are to focus on. here are some of the photos that i took, i have tries to show a variety of different styles within my pictures to show that, despite a piece of furniture being a fairly simple object, the style and design influences can completely change that.

this is mine and jacks final model. we chose to do the master bedroom and bedroom three, along with their adjoining en suites. we went with swedish style as we both liked how it looked and the simplicity off it. we are both pleased with how this model came out as we had not used foam board before.

folding architecture - primary research trip to ‘saatchi gallery’ in london, where there was an exhibition called ‘paper’ which explored the different uses of paper.

i thought it was well staged and the people knew what they were supposed to be doing. they clearly rehearsed well and were easy to understand. i didnt really understand that was going on though, and think it could have been introduced better. however the atmosphere was good and the set looked very well though out and recreated the feel of the time. the smell of cigarettes was too much though and towards the end it was hard to see because of the smoke.

this is my mind map. i found out what organic and inorganic means; then thought of as many different items i could and put them into their corresponding categories.
