“CEDAR CREEK (-27.322, 152.78)” Is a 5 minute video captured using a SAMSUNG GEAR 360. It displays 360* of this site. The audio has been captured using the ZOOM H2 digital audio recorder, using the 4-Chanel audio setting (meaning that the audio has been captured in all directions). This equipment was used to capture the site in the highest quality possible, to ensure the most immersive experience.
During this project I had to begin recording the equipment, then flee the scene for a total of 5 minutes. During the editing process I cropped the start and finish to exclude any human interaction with the scene.
Layered over the original video is a digital distortion effect which mimics the static from a television. The effect cascades various colours horizontally downwards, mimicking the flickering and descending qualities of a waterfall. The intention is to bring nature into the gallery space, allowing viewers to spectate the visual and auditory qualities of the site, while also drawing connections to digital influences.
The waterfall and the static is intended to assimilate one and other. The distorted visuals flicker over the the sight of trees, movement of clouds and water.
This frame shown above is the front screen of a two screen installation. The final install will have both screens aligned across from one and other in a portrait orientation. The 4 speakers will be positioned in each corner, surround in the seated space with sound.Â
Fraggipani Study, Collaboration with Emily Acrylic Painting 2021
Acrylic painting
1300 X 1650 mm
In this painting Emily and I made a scene of the beach, By sharing the same Pallet we painted different areas of this scene. The clouds resemble franjipannis which have been growing in this season.. Â
The closeups really show the Gestural strokes on the canvas, loose and smothered with paint. Basically this was is feeling based painting.Â
This is "Bee's Lullaby 333" by Ryan Cook on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.
The video's Title is "Bee's Lullaby 333", it is a 33 FRAME GIF video played on a loop a total of 9 times. This waterside-scene is of a group of bee's basking in the water. The footage was captured in High-definition using a DSLR camera out in the Samsonvale waterways. The audio Is an original recording made using a ZOOM H2 Digital recorder, featured is an original song from the artist. The introduction phrase is "Restore", this message resembles a mantra at the begging , as the video almost acts as a message for clarity and tranquility. This theme is achieved as the quality is gradually improved throughout each GIF-Frame cycle. Starting off as a 4 Bit-colour swatch moving through to 8, then 16 all the way to 64. The scene also starts almost entirely blacked out, besides one little leaf in the centre of the frame. Coming to the closing seconds of the video the borders of the frame contract, revealing yet again this one section of the scene where this leaf resides. The Rhythm of the background music and the pace in which it is played synchronises with the movement of the video. As noted, the GIF is compiled of 33 frames and plays a total of 9 times, this numerical balance is created to act as a spiritual indicator, wherein by watching this one can practice being centred.Â
The number 3 is also often associated with completeness and wholeness of one's being. Themes of serendipity and notions of the serene are theme's i explore in my work, as a way of giving the art a purpose which orientates towards meditation, oneness and an admiration for nature.

Here is a site specific leaf arrangement that I made one evening, after we had some rain. The season is early spring, The leaves are starting to become alive with vibrancy. These leaves in particular had fallen in the stream, and were semi-preserved by the water. I spent roughly half-an hour collecting and arranging these leaves, ordering them in a blend of colour from red to brown. The aim for this video is to offer a reference point to some of the thoughts and feelings I have towards art creation around this time. And show a little bit about how I am reflecting.

Install at Frank Moran Gallery QUT Kelvin grove (Z block).
Today we finally got around to do our install at the Frank Moran Gallery. The piece I decided to exhibit was my Light box artwork, titled “leaves one week old, two weeks old and picked fresh on the day” Rather than talk about the purpose being there artwork. I will mention the Take-aways from today. Today we had a vague Idea from talking as a group about what variety of artworks was going to be exhibited by all students today. When we arrived we had a FORMAL discussion. We PROBLEM SOLVED, we NEGOTIATED Pros/ CONS in regards to what areas of the Gallery BEST SUITED each individuals artworks. My Installation came with complications, due to un-Authorised Private lighting fittings. I RESOLVED the issue by going to the Hire room and getting two Thin LED lights. Which i was able to Fit inside the Box in time for the Exhibition. The final Install turned out very well. I had a Very convenient LOW Plinth kept aside so that the box could rest low to the floor. The DESIRE of having a low plinth was so that It could illuminate upwards. The nature of this artwork is to resonate light upwards towards the viewers eyes, so they can observe the COLOURS and Physical structure of the natural material displayed on the box. Overall there was no real Hinderance to my installation. The placement was also very ADEQUATE, I was positioned next to a performative video and a Wave-scene, So my artwork...Â

compilation. here to provide a bit of a checkpoint of where i am at. In terms of exhibiting. Im excited to now be using my natural caught content in a digital manner, for A deeper purpose... That being a Digitalised overlook of natural Movements... offering a bit more of a pleasant theme to the internet. Allowing nature to influence the social, and Content driven world is an important facet to my practice. I mean i could go ahead and make a highly edited, attention grabbing piece of digital art, but instead i want my work to be easily digestible.. I was to use the editing software to complement the footage, not take away from it. I want to amplify the feeling of being in nature on line - either at a rainforest, at the beach, or in the home.
The flickering effect is giving the footage a bottled up feeling. And these aren’t small files! each are large, large enough to be projected quite large, and have their quality retained. So in the future , I do look to project in a way that makes these scenes immersive and rather Appealing (sensory-wise).
Context - why is it important - because technology and content is being created for much different purposes these days. vastly for entertainment. I want to bring back a mature outlook, I want people to experience my Project as a checkpoint to stay and bask and feel comfortable in, during the technological wormhole we all as humans encounter on the internet. This is an embrace of technology for the sake of gRounding, rather than technology being used to exploIt our senses and drive us mad! THISS IS A HUMBLE STOP-GAP STATION OF LOVE.
