Stepping carefully inside, Phoebe casts a quick
glance around the foyer, clutching her handkerchief
tightly to her chest. It was a lovely house; perhaps
a touch suburban, and with an alarming number of
MARBLE statues dotting both the outside and interior
décor. There was an almost DULL, muted factor to it
though, a stuffiness that she almost didn’t expect for
the house of a woman who had dressed so DARINGLY
that dreadful night at Highurst.
Her gaze levels with Mrs. Holland’s
once more, suddenly very aware of
how much taller ( willowy & beautiful )
the other woman was compared to she,
and she lifts her chin.

❛ my husband isn't one to budge for hours, one
asleep. I wouldn't worry about WAKING HIM. ❜
there is a bitter twinge to her tone, even months after
her marriage, the word slow and vaguely disdainful as
it passes through pink lips --- HUSBAND. how miserable
marriage has turned out to be, dreadfully dull and so
terribly restricting. sharply, the woman twists upon her
heel, striding down the hall without so much as a gesture
towards countess to follow.
she wonders how much the countess knows of the pink -
clad woman's relations with HER husband. surely, the woman
holds, at least, enough of a suspicion of her close BOND
to Mister Navarro to have ventured here at all in the wake
of recent events. yet, she can't find contempt in the small
woman's gaze, no trace of disdain or resentment towards
the mistress --- and she hopes, momentarily, the woman
knows nothing at all. let her affair remain unspoken in this
damn stuffy household.

the lights are dim within the parlour, yet she pays it no mind.
somehow, it strikes her as dramatically perfect in its somberness,
fitting the distress shared by both women, yet displayed by one.
perhaps sibella is merely too anxious to remain still, but she
wanders quickly towards the cabinet, allowing the countess time
to settle as she takes the opportunity to pour herself a glass of
liquor.
❛ not too dark in here for you, is it ? I've never liked this
parlour. terrible decor. ❜
