-----on shin’s canon divergence!

after thinking long and hard on this topic, i have decided that i’m taking all of bungie’s most recent lore for shin and telling them to stick it up their asses. this includes scrapping literally everything to do with his triple identity crisis and being a dregden the whole time. why? because i don’t like it! and because this is my blog and i can do what i want on here and i don’t have to explain it away to anyone!

long story short. shin is the renegade. a lone hunter born with the light already with him, he doesn’t work for the vanguard - nor does he affiliate himself with guardians. he is not a guardian. keep that in mind. he’s still trying to investigate the drifter and figure out what the fuck he’s doing but he’s no longer traipsing around as a dregden or that other name he chose for himself. ill drop some more info on this for now and i will include a verse where he’s a dregden just for the sake of being able to play around with vale but. keep this all in mind when you follow/interact with shin here uwu

shin’s not sure of many things in this world. he lets most things pass him by. doesn’t pay them any more attention than he needs to - if it doesn’t affect him then it doesn’t concern him. but, when his light was stripped of him and he was stranded in the wilds with nothing but his wits and instinct to keep him alive? that didn’t pass him by. not quite. what little faith he had in the system was stretched to within an inch of its life, and now that news of a dead vanguard is rapidly spreading through the tower? well, perhaps shin’s interest is somewhat peaked.

if he were keeping track, renegade would say that this has to be one of their more civilised meetings, if you could call them that. ‘meeting’ was such a plain word for one such as yor. it didn’t hold enough... presence, enough hatred inside it for how the hooded, masked man felt toward the larger figure. it would be... wrong to point fingers and name names. he could call yor a murderer. could call him many things. but that would serve the renegade no favours. no upper ground. there’s no benefit to name calling. they’ve both killed people, at the end of the day.

the only difference is that shin can justify the deaths at his hand.

“...what?” it’s all his says at first. the only word to find the air between them through the grainy filter of masked visage. lips pursed behind the shield as hand rests atop handcannon sat on the table between them, a warning, perhaps? or maybe just a reminder. one that he isn’t that kid anymore. that they’re on a level playing field now. that this isn’t a one sided fight anymore. or, maybe, the touch of metal beneath gloved hands goes a certain way to cooling the heat working around his ribcage as shin sits there with a somewhat forces slouch back against the back of his seat, free arm propped back against the wood at the elbow. everything about him screaming casual. perhaps... too much.
