“Maybe blue…” Avery trailed off, thinking about what that might look like. They didn’t doubt that Chunhua would make it look amazing, Avery had watched them dye their and the other members’ hair for years now, but Avery had always been hesitant to try out new colors. “You wouldn’t even have to bleach it that much more, I bet the colors would look nice.”

“i could do a rainbow,” they offered too, smiling. “then you’d get to see what everything looks like, and next time, you’d have an idea of what was your favorite.”

“you’re right. how dare i think otherwise.”

“no idea. i resent it, honestly.”

“that’s some dedication.”

“you should know by now that i’m a dedicated bitch.”

“…..literally eight tho?”

“yep. it’s my signature color.”

“and i’m a bigger cunt.”

“i wasn’t gonna say anything but.....”

“i still don’t know how they let you do that. like, what if you fuck up?”

“ive been doing it since i was eight. i won’t.”

“i don’t know what i’d do without them.”

“me either. they let me dye my own hair.”

“So far they’re better than the stylists at KBS, at least,” Avery replied, remembering a couple of very backhanded compliments they had received before. “You’re right, everyone already knows what their hair really should look like. Except I’m really just okay with anything, but brown and black are just boring.”

“oh, god. you’re right on that count, i guess.” they smiled, tucking some of avery’s hair behind their ear. “i want to try blue on you. blue, turquoise and green. all together in a gradient. like a peacock.”

“i have enough to go incognito for like 10 years, so long as I’m not stupid about budgeting.”

“cool. what are you gonna do after that?”

“solidarity….pity…same thing.”

“hardly.”

“Good, I like it on you,” they nodded, grinning as they spoke. “You have to. Last time someone at Gaia did it, they just put a chunk of pink in it and left the rest blonde.”

“mm, i can’t say i trust gaia’s stylists very much yet. the hairstylists, at least. i think we all do pretty okay on our own in that arena, though-- me with my pink and demi with their silver. and jung doing whatever they like.”

“nothing rallies up pity like a good ol’ support group.”

“i prefer the word solidarity myself.”
